Greg Jennings - WR - Packers

Impending free agent WR Greg Jennings placed his Green Bay home on the market Monday.

For an asking price of $525,000, you can have Jennings' 4,788 square-foot house that is located 10 minutes away from Lambeau Field. It appears the Packers have already told the seven-year veteran that they won't be among the teams pursuing him when free agency opens in March. They're ready to move forward with Jordy Nelson, James Jones and Randall Cobb as their top three wideouts.

I think willing and, more importantly, able are the key issues. No question that Harvin's future is going to impact free agency (and even the draft).

Signing someone like Wallace would be a giant mistake and would almost certainly blow up in their faces.

First, there's Harvin's contract situation. If Wallace gets $11M/year, what will Harvin want, and would he be worth it to the Vikings? The Vikings would be screwing themselves financially in several directions at once by signing a big dollar free agent WR. They could easily make it impossible for them to resign Harvin at a price that they feel he's worth, and it could force their hand in terms of whether Harvin has a future with the team.

Then there's Harvin's ego, or his "competitive" nature, depending on how you view his periodic pouting episodes. Will he accept not being the number one receiver? Will he accept being targeted only six or seven times each game? What will his attitude be like as the season wears on and he realizes that he's not the guy any more?

Then there's the QB situation and the supposed commitment to the running game. Signing a guy for $55M when you can't get him the ball consistently would be a terrible waste of money, as well as a giant source of frustration. Shifting to more of a passing game on the heels of Peterson's 2000 yard MVP season would be questioned by fans, media and teammates unless it's very successful.

It's a no-win situation. The Vikings can only upgrade their receiving corps either through the draft or by signing inexpensive free agents that displace the mediocre WRs they had last year.

If harvin leaves, I think we should definitely sign a big name WR. Bowe, Jennings, Wallace, Etc.

Having played in 26 games and him being 25 years old this year, you imagine that Ponder has possibly reached his "ceiling"

Really? A QB reaches their ceiling after only 2-3 years? I'd have to see stats from some of the greats (along with others) that provided conclusive proof that they reached their "ceiling" after only 26 games. If that was the case, I would be more than shocked.

Sorry, that statement was laced with sarcasm :)

That's pretty cheap for someone with an NFL salary. You'd be lucky to get a townhouse around here for that price. Then again it is Wisconsin....

Donald Driver - WR - Packers

Per Fox Sports Wisconsin, the Vikings are interested in impending free agent Donald Driver.

Driver, who turns 38 on Saturday, believes he can "go to any team and be either their No. 1 or No. 2 guy and be solid for another three years." That might be a bit of a stretch, but Driver has repeatedly said he'd like to play until he's 40. "The question is, do I want to see myself in another uniform? Will my family want to see that? I've always said I only want to wear that green and gold and nothing else," said Driver. Minnesota has just Percy Harvin and Jarius Wright as virtual locks for roster spots in 2013 at receiver.

I can't believe this. Not with the Spielman "youth movement." How in the world would Driver at this point be any upgrade to Jenkins? No. No. No. Guys, you have the wrong soon-to-be free agent receiver. I know there's a bunch over there but the one we might want is JENNINGS.

I think if this is true, it's not his talent their interested in, it's his combination of leadership and price tag. Driver could prove to be a great mentor for the young talent we'll be drafting, since I don't believe we'll target any big priced FA WRs. I wouldn't be apposed to the decision, considering he will come very cheap and will likely only be used sparingly (and he does still have a very minute amount of gas left in the tank), but will provide a much better leader/mentor than a guy like Jenkins ever could.

However, I doubt it happens, I expect Driver to retire this season.
