Re: Kyle Rudolph makes Pro Bowl
Rudolph might be our leading TD scorer for the next few years with maybe 500 yards per season. Our fantasy football NFC version of Scott Chandler!

I hope that's the case, I'm a big fan of Rudolph but that's a pretty big snub to Graham if he was named as second alternate.Mothman wrote:http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/20 ... r_new.html
There was discussion that Graham might have surgery on his wrist after the season so maybe that's why he isn't in the Pro Bowl and Rudolph got the nod instead.

Re: Kyle Rudolph makes Pro Bowl
Jeff Saturday got voted into the Pro Bowl and he got benched this year. I'm glad Rudy got an honor, but the whole Pro Bowl thing has become a farce.
Frankly, I'd rather have the coaches and players do an All-Pro ballloting and just have an AFC/NFC all pro team that is voted by folks in the know. I agree with the sentiment that it isn't worth playing due to the risk of injury in a meaningless game. It isn't like the MLB All Star game or the NBA all star game where there is less risk of injury. Football is a collission sport where the other two are not.
Just my $.02

I don't see Graham listed anywhere. Do they name the alternates now, even before placing them on the roster when someone bows out? I don't think I've heard of that before.Saints tight end Jimmy Graham is an alternate as well, but it's never been made clear by the Saints or Graham if he is the first alternate at tight end for the NFC. If he is the first alternate, Graham would be named to the Pro Bowl if the Falcons win Sunday as Tony Gonzalez would skip Hawaii and come to New Orleans.
But Graham may not play in the Pro Bowl even if he's named to the roster because of his lingering wrist injury that plagued him throughout the 2012 season.

They decide on at least some of the alternates in advance. I'm not sure if that's announced officially but it seems to get reported.Eli wrote:I don't see Graham listed anywhere. Graham was reported as an alternate just a few days after the rosters for this Pro Bowl rosters were announced:

This report about Dolphins alternates implies (to me anyway) that perhaps the alternates aren't announced officially but players are told if they've been named as alternates:

Re: Kyle Rudolph makes Pro Bowl
Jimmy Graham and Rudolph both had 9 TD's, and Tony Gonzalez had 8. The next two in line had 5 each. I think we could qualify this year as a pro bowl season for him ;~)Purplemania wrote:*Rudolph to replace some dude who doesn't want to play in the Pro Bowl
They should make the headline more like this. Sorry, I'm a Rudolph fan, but to me he did not have a Pro Bowl year.
A successful coach needs a patient wife, loyal dog, and great quarterback - and not necessarily in that order.
