Some athletes play better in huge games with an injury. It prevents them from over thinking.
Ponder will play.
Exactly what I was thinking about the injury, maybe it will distract him enough not to screw up the whole shooting match!

Well since 99.99% of the "experts" have already given this game to GB. I LIKE OUR CHANCES.

With all due respect to AD, Ponder, Rodgers or GB's receiving core. The team that wins today will be the one that wins on Defense.

Like Winfield and Allen says, there is no tomorrow. Lets get this done!

Strib writer Dan Wiederer tweeted this 15 minutes ago:

Have been told it is "looking more likely" Joe Webb will start tonight. Still no final word. But Vikings much closer to Plan B.
Of course "Have been told" leaves us wondering just who told him this information!

Webb is starting. This is very very bad but we'll see what happens. Webb is very fast and GB isn't used.

:wallbang:
Finally gives people a reason for optimism, and then he gets hurt. Can this guy be anymore inconsistent!!! Makes it the whole season up and down up and down, has a big game in the biggest game, and might not even be able to play the next one!

At least if he does start and struggles he has an excuse.

GO WEBB GO!

Any other week of this season and I would have preferred to see Webb.

This outta be interesting. Wonder if they've worked anything in for Webb specifically or just going to run the same offense, different QB? Man this could get ugly!

I am a huge fan of Webb. Have wanted him put in over Ponder many times. But I'm not sure this is the best time for that to happen. Ponder is red hot right now and Webb hasn't taken a meaningful snap all season. If Webb does play I'll be wearing his jersey like I have the past 8 games and rooting for him to tear it up. But truth be told even as huge of a Webb fan I am I hope to see Ponder play this game.

I think it's a good idea for Ponder to be benched with his injury. Passing is even harder in the cold, he doesn't have the experience of a guy like Rodgers, there's a higher risk of throwing interceptions and getting a more severe injury. Better to rest Ponder and his elbow and hope Webb does his job and the Vikings win so Ponder can hopefully start next week.

Hmmm... I wonder if they just misspoke. There's still nothing definitive anywhere online, even on Twitter. The Wiederer tweet I posted above is getting repeated but if Webb had been definitively declared the starter, you would think the news would be spreading like wildfire.

And the Grinch's heart shrunk back down to it's usual diminutive size. Imagine complaining that Ponder is letting every one down by intentionally hurting his elbow

Agreed. It was definitive in the announcement but possibly misinformed or a hasty announcemt.
