I'm surprised Reggie Jones didn't make this list. But it's nice to hear Williams single out a guy that needs to step up with the opportunity he has been given.
10 Vikings Off To Fast Starts At Training Camp
“Letroy has been one that has been phenomenal in camp,” Alan Williams said. “It may not seem to the naked eye but there are some clips of him just getting off blocks, running to the ball and pursuing. Day two he made a play outside of the numbers running to the football so we are very pleased with him.”

Encouraging stuff, particularly about Guion and Simpson. I wish there were a quarterback, safety, linebacker or guard mentioned, but I'll take what we can get.
Seems like the Vikings could actually have some decent depth at cornerback, albeit with some guys who show talent, but may still be projects.
It's not unexpected. Henderson's the more athletic player in coverage so I think he was probably the favorite to be the mike 'backer in nickel situations anyway. Rather than being a bad sign for Brinkley, maybe it's a positive indication that the coaches are emphasizing athletic strengths?

... or is that a reach?

Ha! I'll take the optimism. As long as whoever is there can get the job done and isn't a glaring liability (is it too much for them not to be any kind of liability) I'm fine with it. Henderson seems to always be around the football so maybe he'll be fine in that roll, provided he can get to it before the play has already been made.

That's always nice.
This could become an interesting competition during the preseason.
Christian Ponder was 11-of-16 passing today in team drills. Joe Webb was 10-of-16, Sage Rosenfels 1-of-3 and McLeod Bethel-Thompson 1-of-2.
Talked to Craig Johnson for a story after practice. He said he told Ponder he's never seen a QB go 7-of-10 in 2-minute and only gain 25 yds.
Jeff Charleston hurt an ankle and will have an MRI. Results not yet back on Geoff Schwartz's MRI. From what I'm hearing Geoff Schwartz's issue isn't thought to be related to the hip. Still no updated prognosis, though. Eric Frampton just had wind knocked out.
Josh Robinson has returned to defense drills for first time in a week. Tweaked hammy last Friday. Working with what amounts to 3rd string.
And now Reggie Jones is the third corner in starting nickel. Trying all the combinations with Winfield sitting. #Vikings
The Blair Walsh Project
And practice ends with Blair Walsh drilling a 55-yard field goal that passed midway up the uprights. Dead center. The kick had at least another eight yards on it.
Blair Walsh's field goals from 43 and 55 yards in situational work today improved him to 17-of-18 in team settings this camp.
