ya this came up before and i said the fact that i've been in montana for 20 years now likely gives me a different view than most of you. i am always surprised that fans with no ties to the state say they'll be done with them. i'm not saying it's wrong to think that...just that i find it surprising.
for me, i just can't see choosing not to keep supporting them. especially if ownership stays the same and the uniforms and name stay the same. if they move to LA and wear pink jerseys and call themselves the surfers....i'll be more inclined to find a new team! but even then, if guys like AD and percy are still suiting up, and zigs is still running the show....i might grin and bear it. not real sure on that one though.
but if they are still the vikes, and they're still donning the purple and gold, and current guys are still busting their #### off....i just can't NOT support them simply because the people of minnesota are morons!
all that said.....it will never be the same. the vikes BELONG in minnesota.
Does anyone know what the plans had been for the metrodome if the Vikings' Arden Hills proposal had been approved? I know the Wilfs own a couple of adjacent plots of land. Were they going to develop the met site into something?

I'd keep an eye on um till AD, allen, and harvin were gone but just like I don't root for the lakers I wouldn't cheer for them.
Grubman is like the grim reaper. The message could not be more clear. Minnesota's exclusive negotiating period ends when the legislature fails to act this session. This team is available to the highest bidder, any locale. The NFL will encourage this. Lesson to all future communities who fail to pay the piper. Go Vikes!!!

were you alive when the lakers were in minnesota?! for me that makes a big difference. i don't cheer for the lakers either. but if i spent the first thirty years of my life cheering for the lakers in minnesota, and then they left, i just don't see not cheering for them anymore.

Still a football fan for sure, I just won't have a specific team to cheer for. At some point I've cheered for just about every team at some point or another for whatever reason (need to bears to lose but they play the packers? eh go pack i guess!) I'll be a football fan for sure, also in many fantasy leagues. The thing is, it's more of like a "MINNESOTA IS THE BEST" thing for me. If the Vikes move and win a title would I be saying "yeah minnesota's the best!" don't think so.

That's how I'd feel as well. I cheer for the Minnesota Vikings. I'm not going to cheer for a Los Angeles team that's for sure. Probably just watch football for football, and end up a Lions fan if nothing else. No way I could cheer for what was a rival, but still want to keep it in division so that's where I'd go.

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Gov. Mark Dayton says NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers will come to Minnesota on Friday to meet with state lawmakers and urge them to make progress on building a new stadium for the Vikings.
Dayton said he spoke by phone with Goodell and Art Rooney on Thursday morning. He says they consider it urgent to approve a stadium financing bill in this legislative session to guarantee the team's future in Minnesota. Rooney leads the NFL's stadium committee.
Stadium supporters have been scrambling since a House committee voted down the latest proposal Monday night. The team is committed to play its upcoming season in the Metrodome, but Dayton says failure to approve a stadium plan this session increases the chances of Minnesota losing the franchise.
I'm a fiscal conservative through and through but this is just pathetic. Every other state/city gives public financing to their NFL teams. The reality is if you do not play ball you will lose your franchise to someone who will. It just floors me that the idiots in power are willing to lose the one team most everyone in the state loves just to stand on an ideological principal that no one will remember come November.
Time to hire some new political consultants who can see the forest as well as the trees.

What frustrates me is that the facility is used for SO much more than a handful of football games. If it's anything like the Dome, it'll be utilized most of the year. The politicians do realize that, right? You'd think? A couple of them, maybe? They know the revenue it brings in, right?

I can’t confirm this, but I think another part of the problem is back door politics by Minneapolis special interests, trying to salvage their precious football stadium site. The Vikings want a suburban site they can develop and frankly, so do most of the fans. Nobody likes paying $35 to park their car at some crappy downtown office ramp and then be told they cannot tailgate within 20 blocks of the stadium. (or whatever it is.)
To be honest, I do not think Financial sense is anywhere in the current political thought process. They built a light rail that just gushes dollars, something that has been proven over 100 years of publicly financed rail systems. Yet we built one anyways.
