Does Brees really not get it?
@drewbrees: I am speechless. Payton is a great man, coach, and mentor. I need to hear an explanation for this punishment

Bountygate Punishment

Post by PurpleHalo »

Coach Payton suspended for the entire 2012 season
Gregg Williams suspended indefinitely
General Manager Mickey Loomis suspended 8 games
Lose 2012 and 2013 2nd round draft picks.

I figured it would come down rather hard, and I thought Williams would be booted from the NFL, and it appears he has been.

From what I understand, the Saints have NO first rounder this year. So, in essence, they do not get to pick until the 3rd round this year?

My question is what will be done with those draft picks. It seems reasonable to me that the team(s) that were most "injured" by the bounty system should receive some compensation.

Do I see a show of hands?

Doesn't do much for the Vikes, unfortunately, nor does it invalidate the fact that the Saints went on to win the Superbowl.

Saints should feel lucky they didn't lose a first rounder out of this.

I wonder if there will be some player suspensions and fines to follow for those 22-27 guys who actively participated in the program?

I'd love for this to happen however I don't know how they could accurately judge who was affected most.

I'm pretty sure there will be, it just hasn't yet been announced.

Regarding potential discipine for current and former Saints players involved in the bounty scandal, the NFL issued this statement: "Discipline for individual players involved ... continues to be under review with the NFL Players Association and will be addressed by Commissioner (Roger) Goodell at a later date." This could potentially involve Viking DL Remi Ayodele, who played on the Saints' defensive line in 2009-10.
On the high/low hit on Favre, Remi was the one who hit him high.

I don't see why the Vikings haven't cut him yet. He's unproductive and they just re-signed Guion and Evans. That's good enough depth with KWill and Ballard and also Griffen sliding in on passing situations.

Edit: And I see he's just been released....

my understanding is the players union wants to review this as well

trust me a lot of the players will be getting slapped too

I wouldn't be surprised to see some civil law suits come out of this as well
