Once again, the Vikings stadium is a MULTI-use facility. Target field, while being able to host a ton more events in the baseball games, can't host events year round and ones that just require a larger space that a Vikings stadium could provide. In that sense, the state should almost contribute a BIGGER percentage for the Vikes stadium than they did for TF.purple guy wrote:
While that true, the Vikings also only pull folks into the stadium 10 times a year, 2 PS games and 8 regular season, if they dont host a playoff game. Baseball, while a smaller stadium, has 80+ home games bringing folks to the area.

Not to mention if everything goes according to plan that there is the possibility to draw professional soccer to the venue, which is apparently a thing people watch. There's potential for big $$ there for the state.thatguy wrote: Once again, the Vikings stadium is a MULTI-use facility. With the Arden Hills site in play, the metrodome will be used for games until the new stadium is built. Where will the Vikes play if Minneapolis gets it's way and the new stadium is built at the downtown metrodome site? TCF?

TCF is said to be where they would play. Of course, AFAIK, there is no agreement in place to do so, since there is no agreement in place for a new stadium at the Metrodome site.

Baseball plays 80 home games, the Vikings play 10 home games. You seriouisly think the stadium could get used an additional 70 times???? No way. Not even close. I agree it should be a multi purpose stadium, but no way is used nearly as often as Target Field. A handful of concerts/monster trucks/ect wont equal the 80 Twins home games.

High school football, conventions, etc. Not to mention, you can host NCAA final 4 games, the Superbowl, and other huge events. That's all up for the state to decide.purple guy wrote:

i am not sure why everyone thinks Minnesota is so poor that they cannot build a stadium for the Vikings. They just lack any kind of creative drive (especially in our government) to get something done. I think the vikings should build an outdoor stadium solely for the Vikings football.

I'd like the idea...but the question still comes back to money.vikings22 wrote:i am not sure why everyone thinks Minnesota is so poor that they cannot build a stadium for the Vikings.
