I'm not. I was at the game and when I saw that Baker had been removed, I knew it was over. The first batter reached on a infield single, and I said the next batter would walk. Sure as ####. What a gutless, pathetic, embarassing performance by the entire team, except for Scott Baker and Alexi Casilla.
Jason Kubel made a baserunning error that cost the team a run, although whoever was on third (Kuber was doubled off 2nd) could have tried to score instead of just waltzing home. And on a two-out play earlier in the game, Valencia was on first, and there was a line drive hit to the 2nd baseman. Valencia proceeded to run back to first and dive back as if there was a play... THERE WERE TWO OUTS. Is no one telling these guys how many outs there are? Are they not following the game that they are playing in?
Any other team in the majors would have fired their manager by now. But no, the Twins don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Pussys. Bill Smith, Gardenhire, Rick Anderson, and the base coaches need to go NOW or we won't have a winning team for years.
Yeah, but this year the winning-the-division part sure doesn't look likely.HornedMessiah wrote:Gardenhire will get at least two more seasons after this one before the team fires him, unless he can turn it around of course. There's just this whole "Minnesota nice" thing with the whole Gardy situation, it's like, "Oh Gardy, you're such a nice guy and we don't care that your teams consistently make an early exit from the postseason. You're a nice guy and we're happy with just winning the division. Such a nice guy."
