Big Brown yea or nay?
Not really seen anything here about Big Brown's quest for the Triple Crown so I guess that means there isn't much interest it?
I'm still undecided as to whether I'm going to be for him or against him tomorrow. He was very very impressive in both legs so far but those extra 2 furlongs in the Belmont have caught out many a good horse before.
Before taking him on of course you have to have something to take him on with. Casino Drive looks a decent sort. 1/2 brother to last years winner and impressive winner on both career starts to date. The win in Japan was good but the one in the Peter Pan Stakes was extremely impressive considering the fact that he wasn't long out of quarantine and can't have been near 100%.
I really don't follow much of American Racing though aside from the Classics so I can't get an accurate idea of what exactly he beat.
The only other one I can really see having a chance is Denis Of Cork. Seemed to be staying on extremely strongly in the Kentucky Derby.
Maybe Borel left it too late? If he's ridden more prominently tomorrow by Alverado who knows?
Anyway I'm sure others know a lot more than I do on it...
So the question is.... Big Brown, yea or nay?

Yea. He still had plenty left in the tank after both of the earlier races. The only thing that might cause a problem would be the cracked hoof. But I'm rootin' for him!

I don't really care for horse racing, but it would be cool if he did win the race and triple crown.

I say BB wins. Not an easy task obviously, been 30 years, but he seemed so strong in the first 2 Id be surprised if he doesnt win.
Re: Big Brown yea or nay?
Win or lose, I wonder how the drugs he was raised on will have an impact on his stud fees?
Like baseball, this is becoming a joke.

I can't see why it would. Aren't all American horses on steroids and lasix etc?John wrote:Win or lose, I wonder how the drugs he was raised on will have an impact on his stud fees?

Isn't he just playing by the established rules of the game. Do I think its right? no, its disgusting and I can't see any way that horse racing in America can ever get the kind of respect that the sport deserves unless they take immediate remedial action.

I hope he does win, too. I was excited when the other horse a couple years back was close, and today could be another big day!! I hope he wins.

Yeah, in the states where race horses are allowed to use steroids they all do. So why not just ban them all, in all states, and the playing field is then even. Makes no sense. I think what he meant by effecting his stud fees was the health problems that can be associated with steroids, I could be wrong, but thats how I interpreted it.

30+ years. I wish Id laid big money on the winner

Re: Big Brown yea or nay?
Nay... oh well...
Kind of glad, don't think he beat much in his races so far and wouldn't like him to have been deemed immortal without at least a great challenger to prove he was great.
Funny race. I wonder why the jockey pulled him up. I hope he's ok because I really want to see him race Curlin sometime this year. Would love that to be in the Breeders Cup Classic as on the artificial surface maybe a few good European horses would be sent over to take them on. I really doubt that either will turn up in the Arc (Prix de L'Arc De Triomphe).
Reading comments will be interesting tomorrow. Ok so he took a hold early on, he then seemed to settle ok, was a bit hampered by Tale of Ekati taking him pretty wide the whole way round. I noticed him going back a bit around the middle of the turn, I wonder did the jockey ask him for more then and he didn't have it? There was still probably the best part of 4f left so it can't be that he was a non-stayer.
Like I said I hope he's ok and I really hope he races again.
Didn't win a thing on the race as I was going to lay him for a few quid but after Casino Drive was a non runner decided it best to just watch.
