I don't know what to think of Cloverfield. It was a very cool idea and I liked the home-video POV (it did take a few minutes to get into it though), but the story/writing wasn't anything special. It was very well directed, but I guess that is about it. I'm glad I watched it, but I don't know what to think of it (which is very odd for me as I usually hate a movie, thought it was OK, or was excellent, without much in between.)Minniman wrote:I thought Cloverfield was great, and it wasn't really an intellectual film.

The Army still uses those barracks from Stripes. They're now used as a paintball area for MOUT training (Military Operations in Urban Environments). The obstacle course that John Candy went running off into the woods on is still used as well.Krulik wrote:Well that would be the great Cinderella story of Stripes

I was in the mood for a Sci Fi fun flick, and that is what Cloverfield is. It sort of put one in the situation, and that was cool for me. It is one of those movies that most people either like a lot or don't care for.wang_chi7 wrote: I don't know what to think of Cloverfield. I saw The Bank Job a week later, and that was good as well.

I had the in-processing crappers in the toilet shown behind the scene where Winger (Bill Murray) gets punched by Sgt. Hulka (Warren Oats). They were not open as they are shown in the film.
That was the easy obstacle course, as the confidence course was much more difficult. I am sure John Candy could not have done any of those obstacles. The obstacle course that John Candy went running off into the woods on is still used as well.
Time does go by quickly. I have not been back there for two decades.

I went through basic training at Ft.Knox. There are tons of spots in that movie that I can point out and have memories of doing things. Its why that movie will always be near and dear to me....been over 2 decades for me as well Minniman.Minniman wrote: Hah! Fort Knox.

Thats the newest trailer for Batman and man, does it look good. I don't know though, it might be hard to watch for me for every time I see the Joker on the screen, I am so sad and distraught about how great he could have been and how good he already was. I know its odd to let a celebrity death get to you in such a way, but Heath's hit me in a way nobody's has.
