I found Batman Begins to be amazing precisely because it was able to balance character development and slam bang action. Plus, I felt the casting was perfect. I think Christian Bale is the right mix of brooding and suave to pull off Bruce Wayne. And I really look forward to seeing what they give Gary Oldman to do as Gordon.
And I think Heath Ledger's turn as the Joker is going to be frighteningly good.

I'm surprised Iron Man is so well-liked; I thought it looked crappy in previews. (But so did the Big Lebowski, so my first impulse could be wrong.)
That's cool though, I'll have to check it out on video. For the record, my favorite superhero movies are:
Batman
Batman Returns
Batman Begins
and the Spiderman and X-Men movies are good as well. I like the ones that are visually arresting and have interesting characters/subtext. Mostly, to me, it's a tired genre.

I am STOKED to see this summers Batman. Heath looks to have done an incredible job as the joker. I will be there with my boys opening night!!!

That's the north side of the old Chicago Post Office building. The black glass building on the left is my office. Never really caught them doing much filming, I think they did the complicated stuff nights and weekends when there are less people around.

First off I dont want ot read the synopsis and ruin it as it may contain spoilers...and B, just because the synopsis sounds dumb doesnt mean it cant be a kick #### movie. I absolutely loved No Country, one of the best movies this decade. If you went in thinking it would be a traditional action flick though, I can see why you wouldn't like it. Point taken ... however ... IMDB is pretty good at not including spoilers in the synopsis and/or plot outline on the main page. Even when you click on their link for the more detailed synopsis you'll get a big fat warning at the beginning if they think reading it will contain a spoiler. That being said, I almost always try to get some information about a movie before I rent it or go to see it in a theater. Agreed, however I never said or even implied that it couldn't be a kickass movie for someone else. Just said it sounded like a dumb movie to me. Obviously we have different tastes in movies. No Country For Old Men was one of the best movies I've seen and the Cohen Bros have yet to make a bad movie in my opinion. JMOKinda like a movie can sound good and win awards and then be horribly disappointing....see No Country for Old Men.
Finally got to see "No Country for Old Men." After careful deliberation, it has beat out "Barton Fink" for my #3 top Coen Bros. movie. We all know #1, and I still think "Fargo" beats it out, but it edges "Barton Fink" and "Oh Brother." Quite nice to see the Coens return to form. For those who are aghast that "Raising Arizona" isn't in the top 5, I hate to tell you that it's quite far near the bottom of mine, past even "Intolerable Cruelty."

Very good movie. Iron Man was my favorite hero comic when I was a small child. I was pretty happy when it was slated to come out as a film.
I saw it today with my kids, and it was pretty good. It was a predictable to the maximum, but it balanced action and plotline, and that was a good thing. It was a bit too slow for my daughter though.
I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars, and that is a good rating from me.
On a side note, I don't like any of the Tim Burton Batman movies. They were slow and cheesey, which is just about all Burton knows how to do. Of course, there are other people here who like them, and we each have our own opinions and tastes in films.

Aside from fairly common movie physics bending (How could Indy hold on to the U-Boat's periscope for that long anyways?) Iron Man does a good job of explaining where the technology comes from.
