The #Bengals aren’t done yet: They are landing former #Vikings CB Trae Waynes, sources tell me and
@TomPelissero
. Two big splash free agents today.
Me: Not the end of the world. Good solid corner but not a turnover guy. I like corners who create ints.

I liked Waynes but it was time to move on, I suppose. We coulda resigned him with the money he's getting in Cincy though. $18M / 3 Years isn't much.
EDIT: And now I see how much he's actually being paid and JEEZUS, Cincy overpaid the living crud for Waynes.

Terms: #Bengals reached agreement with former #Vikings CB Trae Waynes on a 3-year, $42M deal, per
@RapSheet
. Well over $10M/season. Waynes and DJ Reader added to Cincinnati's defense.

Getting a 3rd for him would be pretty good. Pretty soon we'll have a stacked draft.

So far the 2021 draft looks just as promising. We just received a 4th from buffalo in the diggs trade, plus the comp pick for Waynes (3rd or 4th) plus a comp pick for weatherly (I’m guessing anywhere between a 5th and 7th). And that’s not even counting other free agents we could lose like Alexander and/or Everson

Who are we moving on to? Hughes and Hill both haven't played anywhere near a full season. Kris Boyd?
We're obviously drafting someone but they are likely to struggle this year. This season is looking like a sunk cost.

Mackensie Alexander could come back. We also could draft Antoine Winfield Jr. and convert him to CB.

Unless they make a bunch of terrific moves that pay dividends very quickly, it's probably even more than this season.

The odds Winfield or anyone hits the ground running is low. Rhodes, Waynes, Alexander, Hughes, all top picks took time to adjust to the speed of the NFL.
We are now seeing the full downside of Cousins contract. People thought Brez would be able to pull out some magic but the team is gutted. And we're still not in a very good cap position with a lot of holes.
If Spielman does well in the draft we could be back in contention in a year or two but this season is looking like a lame duck. And that's really contingent on Rick doing well, if he fails to execute we could be in for a long rebuild.

Holy hell. Three years, $42 million for Trae Waynes?
Good to be him, I guess. Wow. What has Trae Waynes done in the NFL to earn $14 million per year?

Good question but this is how free agency goes. Desperate teams overpay. That’s why I’m glad we tend to sit back. I’m hoping we get Alexander back though. I’m starting to think if we trade Harris, we knock that money off the books and then resign Alexander? So essentially we traded away Anthony Harris for a 2nd-3rd round pick and mac alexander. That would be a win. But I’m also not opposed to keeping Harris either

Wayne's got over paid, but how will that effect trying to sign Mac?
