Pre Pre-season poll. How many wins.

So, I thought we could do a pre pre-season poll. Based on what you know right now, with the people on the roster, how many wins will the Vikings have? I will run the poll till the 15th of June. Then after the pre-season games I will open it up and let people change their vote. I believe that is possible.

I'll go with 10. I'm thinking at least 8.

I went with 8. I think it would be higher but for the brutal schedule and uncertainty at OL, particularly LT.
early 2016 prediction - I'll go with 11-5 and the best Defense in the NFL

I say we go 9-7 and our tough schedule keeps us out off the wild card. I would be surprised by anything worse than 7-9 or anything better than 10-6.

I went with the 8-9 category.
I think the Vikings will improve, but I don't believe they are ready to be championship contenders. They might not even make the playoffs.

Interesting that tour guess is a higher number than many of the actual Viking fans. How come you think they will get that many?

I voted 10- 11 because, I want to be optimistic .
IMO we are the second best team in this division and closing the gap currently(Packers)
If Rodgers misses 4 games or more we win the division IMO. The lions are close, but defense
won't be the same without that D line.

i hate this 8-9/10-11 biz...
we will win 10 games...sneak in as a WC...and pull a giants with a late screaming front four pressure and a progressive defensive backfield.
AD will be the next walter payton and score no TDs in a superbowl route...teddy ballgame will go 12-25 for 223 yards and no TDs in the final game. we will have a special teams TD and a defensive 6. and that will be all we need.

That D you guys have been building is for real.
Both games last year, your defense went stride for stride with the Packers top rated offense, that first game was far closer then it looked, you guys were right there tic for tac and playing our O well, until Ponder broke the game wide open with turnovers. Then later on in Minny, where we narrowly avoided defeat.
Getting your best player back on the field, along with another year in the system for Teddy will do wonders, and i think it will be enough to get you guys back in div title contention.
One thing i am quite unfortunatly positive about, is that you guys WILL be a good team, good enough to beat us for the division? We will see. 10-6 is my guess, but im envisioning a couple of those losses being contested games against the Packers, so if you guys can steal one, or lord forbid, two, it should land you safely in the postseason.

The Vikes defense was awful in that first game. They had already allowed 14 points before Ponder and the offense even got on the field for a third time. With Rodgers at QB, the Packers offense scored TDs on 5 of their first 10 possessions. I wish I could say otherwise but that game was never close.
Im hoping we've seen the last of Vikes/Packers games like that for a while (unless it's a one-sided game with the Vikes on top, of course. I'm fine with those).

Didn't the Vikings force a ton of 3 and outs that first game? I think the defense was not as bad as you are thinking... Ponder couldn't move tye ball and get thw defense any kind of break at all.

Here's why I view it as I do: the offense was down by 14 points on the road before they knew what hit them. That was on the defense. The offense
did struggle to move the ball in that game but as far as I'm concerned, that was a poor defensive performance from the Vikings. They forced five 3-and-outs when Rodgers was playing so you're remembering correctly that they had some good series. Unfortunately, they allowed 5 TDs in the in the other 5 possessions Rodgers played. To me, even though getting the opposing offense to go 3-and-out on 50% of the possessions including their star quarterback is nice, that achievement is completely undermined when the other 50% of those possessions resulted in TDs (some of them quite easy). I have a hard time seeing a defensive performance like that, in which the defense allowed 35 points in 3 quarters, as anything other than poor. I definitely don't think the Vikes defense went "stride for stride" with GB's offense that night in any truly competitive sense. The Vikes were blown out 42-10 and that had as much to do with their defensive performance as anything else.
Sorry if that response sounds a little strong but that game was the low point of the 2014 season for me and it really bugs me when the offense gets blamed for defensive inadequacy.

I think Ponders turnovers really blew the game open and just made it that much easier to go down the field and pile it on a desperate Vikings D, who really wasnt able to get off the field, what with Ponder soiling himself, but you do raise some good points.
In any event, A-Rod came away rather impressed with the Vikings defensive capabilities that night, so there is that.
