Used to but it's way too time intensive. It's fun but I just don't have the time to do 6-hour instances.

I had a Lev 60 Shaman (PVP) and 60 mage (RP). This was prior to the expansion.

I played the 10 day trial and enjoyed it. And I found it's easy to get lost in the game for six or seven hours! Made it to level 11 (just a short ways away from level 12) with a human Paladin. I'm thinking about maybe signing up to play further (after finances are straightened out in Feb).

Honestly I would quit while you can

I suppose you could view it as cheap entetainment but for me it just seemed like there was so much more productive things I could do.

I equate it to rock band. You can sit there for hours on end playing fake instruments and have nothing to show for it or you can go out and learn how to play a real guitar. Both are fun, but at least with the latter you'll have something to show for it down the road.

Dawn,

I play. I started a while back. I play on the Malorne (PVP) Server, and I play on the Horde side. Let me know if you're interested in playing. You already have had a free sub for 10 days, so you know a little about it.

It can be addicting, but you just have to set limits for yourself. I'm not too hardcore, so I don't have any lvl 80 guys yet even though I've got the expansions.

I'll tell you ... if you can get into an MMORPG and are trying to save money it's a great idea. The 12 dollar or so a month is far cheaper than what most people would be doing on a random Saturday.

However, you'll have pretty much no real life outside of the game. Be prepared for that to happen if you choose an MMO.

Or you could play pen and paper and meet people in THE REAL WORLD(tm).
I would also warn you that it will take up too much of your free time, but considering how much of my time the new Star Wars game that Wizards of the Coast put out it would be totally hypocritical.
Oh, to hell with it, half of Military Intelligence has a raging hard on for this franchise so I might as well play. What is a good race/class combo for a N00b?
NO NIGHT ELVES!

Go here --> http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/ to see what the various Races and Classes are. And what you should play is dependant on what it is you want to accomplish in the game.

I already don't have much of a life. I work, I eat, I sleep. Pretty much can't afford to do anything else. :(

Dawn, I played last summer and got my assassin to level 70. My kids play now too. I dont play it much outside of summer because I dont have the time but its a fun game for sure. Like Cliff said, its really cheap entertainment at 12 bucks a month.

I play a tauren druid for my main. I like it because it's a very versatile class. You can DPS/Heal/Tank, in any given situation. If you're not geared for it, and haven't spent your talent points on them, you won't be the best, but you can fill most rolls. I think you're choice of class is probably more important than race, but that's just my opinion.

Are there any classes to avoid?

Maybe things have changed since I stopped but:

Paladins are for noobs.

Mages, be a warlock instead.

Shamans are alright at everything but excel at nothing. Be a Druid instead.

Haven't tried t. I'm afraid I'd become too addicted. Once I start Final Fantasy or Legend of Zelda, I'm hooked. I just don't have the time I used to in order to lpay those games now that I havet the dogs and Hubby doesn't go to sea anymore for months on end.

I prefer Guild Wars. Its quite similar to WOW, however there is no monthly fee to play.
