Vikings' Teddy Bridgewater eyes NFL career like Brett Favre's

"If I could be like any other quarterback that played in the National Football League, I would have to say Brett Favre is the guy," Bridgewater said. "Besides the injuries and the hits and everything, he had a pretty successful career. He's a hall of famer for sure, multiple Super Bowls, and that's something that I look forward to doing.

"Hopefully, I can win more Super Bowls (than Favre)."

Pffsshhhh. Come on Teddy, Brett Favre? Don't aspire to be above average for decades. And throw games away in crucial situations...hope he ends up being more than a gunslinger or he'll be lucky to win 1 like Favre was!

Below is a chart of the four guys that qualified. [NEP is net points per play - after the guy threw the ball, how likely was the team to score - their expected points from NFL historical statistics - vs. before the play]. Passing NEP per drop back is just the player's Passing NEP divided by the number of drop backs.

By this standard, Bridgewater created 37 points by his play. Carr cost the Raiders 50 points. Bortles was historically awful passing.

Note that this stat gives Teddy some credit for Asiata's TD's. First and goal from inside the 10 tends to mean you created a lot of expected points, regardless if you are the guy who throws the pass into the end zone vs. letting your line pound it in.

I didn't watch any Raiders games. All the analysis I see says that Carr was below average and Bridgewater was above, even though Carr managed decent stats. From what I hear, the comparison isn't really close.

Hey Demi, I think there is a nit hiding under the couch that you forgot to pick.

Jiminy Crickets - TB did not say "I want to be like Favre in every statistic category and be in Wrangler blue jean commercials and send dick pics to women". He did say he would have to have a long career and be in multiple Superbowls. Would you like TB to do otherwise?

Yes, he played in back-to-back Super Bowls in 1996 and 1997. Green Bay won the first one and lost the second to Denver.

09 was the most fun year for us in the past 15, maybe 20 years. I will never be upset that he wore purple.

I get that most Vikings fans hate Favre, but come on. We would be thrilled if Teddy turns into half the QB Favre was. He's one of the top 6-7 QBs of all time in my opinion. With the crazy numbers even average QBs are putting up these days, people forget how good Favre was, especially for his time. Just look at his passing numbers compared to the other QBs of his era.

Obviously we hope he is a better person than Favre, but the qualities Favre is best known for, bravado, confidence, courage, etc, can be positives on the field, even if they are annoying off of it.

As ridiculously overrated and embellished as Favre has become, I see no problem with Teddy wanting to have a career like Bert, I seriously doubt there is anyone on this board that holds anywhere close the amount of contempt for Favre as I do, but lets face it, the guy played almost 20 years, tough as nails, was a HOF player, and has a Super Bowl ring.

I think anyone would be ecstatic if their young QB could end up accomplishing nearly as much as Favre, whether it be Teddy, Luck, Winston, etc.

Its funny, because it really gets lost in the shuffle that the best year Brent ever had, came as a member of the Minnesota Vikings. Did he win mvp that year? I cant recall.

In retrospect, I dislike Favre less than Rodgers. Although I do respect the way Rodgers handled his personal business being spilled out in public last offseason. I really appreciate it actually.
