Mac Jones being moved to Jacksonville, being reported this morning.
That's gotta lock NE into a qb pick, right?

He's had hits and misses like anybody else, but he seems to be better than everybody else. He had Mond his 4th best QB of that draft class. He had Lamar Jackson ahead of Sam Darnold.VikingLord wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 11:06 amI guess what I'm saying with my initial question is a truly good QB evaluator should be able to find those gems in a draft versus the average evaluator who is more or less guessing.cogitator wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 9:19 pm
I don't think finding a prospect who is drafted in later rounds and then becomes a good starter is a good test, since it happens so infrequently, not much of a sample size. (I know - Brock Purdy, Kirk Cousins, Brady, Russell Wilson, but that's spread out over 20 years). As I said above, he did like Lamar Jackson best, and he was the fifth qb selected that year, after Darnold, Allen, Mayfield, Rosen, so a good call there.
To flip that on it's head, what did Simms have to say about Zac Wilson coming out? Or Justin Fields? Or, for that matter, Mac Jones or Daniel Jones? Did he conversely like any of those guys?
You're right, it's 11th and not 12th. Broncos have the 12th pickVikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 10:20 amWe don't have the 12th pick, but I've seen this time and time again where people think we do. I wonder if there's an explanation for that.Angels Wings wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 10:09 pm
Agreed on Penix bandwagon , but he probably goes earlier than our 2nd round pick. It would be a mistake to reach and take him at 12 though. If he falls to 42, then I'm guessing that the durability comes into question.
11 is really high for McCarthy IMHO, but I've seen a few mocks that have him supplanting Maye/Daniels now as the 3rd QB in this year's draft. QB prospect inflation is a real thing...
The OT Fuaga that I talked about before is getting pushed up a lot of boards now. This year is string at OT, CB, and WR. I'd like to see them take Fuaga at 11 and play him at guard in year one or move back a bit and take Barton or Jackson Powers Johnson. I think they're going to trade up for or reach for a QB though.VikingLord wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 3:04 pm11 is really high for McCarthy IMHO, but I've seen a few mocks that have him supplanting Maye/Daniels now as the 3rd QB in this year's draft. I really would not have an issue with KAM trading back to between 20-25 and picking up some DB/DL/OL talent and then, if the chips fall right, maybe taking a guy like Penix in the 2nd who is probably going to fall a bit due to his injury history.
I give Daniel's falling to 3 no more than a 5% chance.fiestavike wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 10:53 am 3. JAYDEN DANIELS, QB, LSU (TRADE. MIN 2024 1ST, 2ND. 2025 1ST, 2ND)

We're going to trade pick 11 and our next 2 FRPs to move up to 5. We will then draft a QB we could have waited for and picked at 11.Maelstrom88 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 10:34 pmThe OT Fuaga that I talked about before is getting pushed up a lot of boards now. I like the player but not the position he plays at #11 given the relative needs on the team and the group of players likely to be on the board there.Maelstrom88 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 10:34 pmThe OT Fuaga that I talked about before is getting pushed up a lot of boards now. If the Vikings trade up to 4 to get McCarthy they either know something about him that isn't generally known that would justify that type of move up or KAM is a charlatan of a GM and he's every bit as desperate and dumb as Spielman was when he over-drafted Ponder.
