He is really good. He is one of these guys that has it (almost) all. There are actually quite a few of those guys out there that don't make it. A coach on the Washington site said he is a true 5 read QB. He even has the IT factor. But he lacks an NFL body. And that limits him at times and in certain situations. It ultimately prevents guys like him from consistently performing at an NFL level. But man, that kid is a baller.

He is really good? You base that on a single game?

Just for the record and because I suspect there will be a lot of Vikings fans on this board lobbing additional criticism at Spielman for "allowing" Heinicke to "get away":

- Heinicke went undrafted in 2015
- He was signed to a UDFA contact by the Vikings that year
- Despite the Vikings being an uber-needy QB team, Heinicke was released by the Vikings in 2017. Not traded. Not because he got a better offer from someone. Released with an injury settlement (not sure if he was actually injured or the Vikings had to do that to cut bait with him)
- Heinicke was then signed by the Patriots. Yes, those Patriots of Bill Belichek and Tom Brady who should know a keeper at QB when they see one. He didn't last the season with the Patriots, either. He was released in early October of that season.
- He then landed with the Texans and Panthers.
- He then went to the St. Louis Battlehawks of the now defunct XFL. He saw no playing time while there.
- Finally, he arrived at Washington this year, only playing when the team had no other viable option at QB and being promoted from the practice squad on December 19th. Basically, he was the "best of what's left" at that point.

So for you to claim that he is really good and has had that sort of pro career merely because of physical limitations is difficult for me to accept. The NFL has had plenty of smaller QBs (although Heinicke isn't really all that small), slower QBs, weak-armed QBs, etc., that have had more prolific careers than Heinicke has so far.

If I were the Washington GM, though, I'd strike while the iron is hot and see if a QB-needy team might be willing to trade for him based on that sole performance. If the comments on this board reflect more general thinking, it sounds like someone might be willing to give something up for him.

I didn't mean to come across as exuberant about him as I did. I stand by my comment that he is a baller. Reminds me of Flutie a bit. I watched him in college too some, so its not based on one game. I don't think he will be more than a backup. Physically limited and his style of play lends to injury.

Talk about ugly options to cheer for in the NFC... Packers, Saints, Bucs, and Rams. I guess Rams?

I’m definitely rooting for Buffalo in the AFC although I’d take any of those teams over whoever is representing the NFC.

I seriously can’t root for any of the NFC teams. Just ... repulsive. I can’t imagine the love fest this week for Brady-Brees.

In the AFC, I like the Bills. They’re fun to watch. And the Browns are my best friend’s team, plus the Stefanski connection (wish he was OUR coach), so I’m rooting for them to do well.

Vikings, Bills, Browns. Time for the long-suffering fans to get some run.

That's funny, one of my very close friends is also a Browns fan. Browns or Bills would be great in my book. I was hoping Arizona would make it on the NFC side.
