And for offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, getting him involved in the game was something that was not always easy."
Sounds familiar

Sounds like he had developed a beef with Russell Wilson. Getting into it with the young franchise QB is probably not a great move. Hard to see how this works out to the Jets benefit.

Cowboys waived DE Michael Sam from the practice squad.

Micheal Sam probably wouldn't have been drafted if it wouldn't have been for the PC factor ...

Hmmm, in a sense. Once he came out I don't think he would have been drafted, but before he came out I think he would have been drafted and maybe stuck with a team. I think the reality is that teams *don't want distractions* and given the inevitable media attention he just wasn't going to find a home in the NFL as a openly gay player. That's my take.

exactly, it's what I have deemed the Tebow factor. A player like Sam (or Tebow) probably has the talent to make an NFL roster, or at least an NFL practice squad. The problem is that when the media and public devotes so much attention to one player for reasons that do not have do with producing on the field, they become a "distraction". If that player happens to be a successful player, the team is likely to put up with it. If that player is just a fringe roster player, it's not worth the "distraction" factor to keep them around. NFL teams want their players and coaches focused on how to play football, not on how to deal with and avoid the media criticizing your shower room etiquette.

I have a deep held belief that marijuana should be legal - but it's not, and this guy is absolutely stupid.

Well, it's legal if you were a Seattle player (or were visiting Washington or Colorado) ... just against league rules. Kind of a weird situation there, really. Why doesn't the league test/suspend for alcohol use, I wonder? A drunk player is more likely to cause problems for the league than a stoned one.

Gordon was suspended for testing positive for alcohol - as a condition of his reinstatement agreement, and in response to a DWI he got last year, he was prohibited from drinking.

Yeah, I saw that. Why not test all players for it?

I assume they'd have to make alcohol use against League rules first, which would probably be a hard, if not impossible, sell to the union, especially since alcohol consumption is legal in all 50 states.
