You missed my point. Entirely.

Purple bruise wrote:So an employee is Guilty until proven Innocent pretty much. Wow, I would not want my family, my friends, or me to be working for one of your companies that can willy nilly fire you for any reason that they deem is right and if they are proven wrong then it is at that point their problem to deal with.
So if I am a great, reliable, loyal employee for your company (folowing your logic), I COULD BE FIRED/RELEASED/OR CUT for any reason  Dude that is why there are labor laws, employee rights monitored and regulated by the US Department of Labor.
If you have a job can your boss fire you because he does not like your religion, race, expressing your constitutional righ to free speech, hair style etc.?? Pretty ridiculous
If you're a business liability, your boss has the right to terminate you. It's their business. This isn't a court of law, it's business. You don't get to stand trial in front of a jury, your boss decides whether or not you're worth your paycheck. It's that simple.
Eli wrote:You can fire someone for _any_ reason that isn't expressly illegal under either federal or state law. Discrimination against gender race, religion, disability, age (over 40, IIRC) are all protected by federal law. Yes, you could be fired if the boss doesn't like your hair style.
And even then, you have to prove that you were fired for discriminatory reasons. You can document all of the reasons why it might have been a discriminatory dismissal and probably win your case, but if it's just "he fired me, and I'm muslim/black/gay", it doesn't work that way.

It is a logical system, you should be able to fire your employees if you don't think they're worth the hourly/weekly/monthly/yearly investment. You should be able to fire your employees if they're a disrespectful #### who doesn't wash their clothes or who spikes their hair. What if you lose customers because of it? That directly impacts your boss at that point, and they should be able to take action at that point.

Of course BUT that is not all of what you said or implied in you post and it is not what I disagreed with you about. Your statement was, "I'm a firm believer that a business should be able to fire/release/cut anyone for any reason. It's their business, and if it turns out to be inaccurate then that's their problem. Just like it's their problem if they keep someone who causes a PR problem, a personal conflict, or anything else. It's all just business."
The main part, where my argument lies, is in you believing that someone could be FIRED FOR ANY REASON. That to me is a whole lot of horsecrap to fire someone for ANY REASON plus, in many instantces, it is not legal under current Labor Laws.

So, for one instance, if say an employee is black and a Muslim but doing a good job, but you as their employer do not personaly like them, you can fire them based on the fact that you do not like them or their religion or color of their skin  Remember you said for any reason. Dude you live on a different planet.

I'm still mad at Desean for letting the Packers slip into the playoffs the year that Rodgers got his Ring. Had he not returned that punt for a TD, the Giants, not the packers get into the wild card game. Then the cheeseheads wouldn't have anything in recent memory to brag about.. Thanks Desean!!
