That guy could be a steal. I think he's a gap shooter.

Pretty ho-hum draft.

Loved Darrisaw and Davis, that's about it.

Not a fan of inaccurate college QB's. Jones and Robinson are exciting. Surratt, raw, but an athlete...same for the WR...the RB and TE are 4th string, and I like Dillon as a TE...needed a safety, I hope Bynum is the guy, guess he will learn on the fly.

I'd grade the draft a B. I like the DEs, Oline, Mond, Chazz, and Twyman. I think we got at least 2 long-term starters and as many as 5.

You could be right. The guy can bring pressure. I think it's a good pick.

Will there be a draft grade thread eventually? It's good to have it in one place.

Not exciting in terms of flashy players, but IMO a fairly solid draft. Appear to have plugged two holes on the O line. Not sure of the ceiling for Mond, he has improved each year in college. Regardless of his ceiling, he is better than any backup currently on the team. He will also have a chance to learn from the sideline and barring injury to Cousins will not be forced into a starting role. Time will tell.

Picked up a good KR guy, and a WR that will provide depth. A couple additions to the DL, and an intriguing LB who will need time to work out the rough edges. He is certainly a very good athlete. Just for fun they grabbed an interesting TE who will be a developmental project. Not a flashy draft, but certainly not a bad draft.

I was thinking there would be eventually but just ended up posting it here.

I would give this an average grade. Nothing stands out. My top player at our pick was Mac Jones and he was there for the taking. I thought this is a gift. I couldn't believe it. You never pass on top flight QB prospects. That's the difference maker position. It also gives you a ton of capital. We may never be in a position like this for a long time. We didn't get an impact player this year and we were in position to get one. No 2nd rounder was a killer. It gets back to quantity or quality. I want quality. We'll see what happens.

Obviously the Vikings did not consider Jones a top-flight prospect. Neither do I.

I’ve said it 100 times if I’ve said it once. You don’t pay your starting quarterback $30+ million a year and then turn around and draft a quarterback in the first round. It would be the height of stupidity. If you doubt me, look at the Aaron Rodgers situation. He wants the GM fired, and why? Because they drafted Jordan Love LAST YEAR. You wanna wreck your locker room? Draft a first-round QB while your franchise QB is still on the roster.

Doesn’t matter if you don’t like Cousins. It was never going to happen.

The Vikings also have an RB that has yet to play a full season so another decent RB for a "run heavy" type team might be a good idea.

A little on Smith-Marsette.

He was sort of an enigma at Iowa. Very fast, very talented, but never had eye-popping season or career numbers. He’d have occasional big games, like his MVP performance in the 2019 Holiday Bowl, when he scored a TD receiving, rushing and returning as Iowa thrashed USC. Or his 140 yards receiving against Wisconsin this past season. But then in that very game he scored a long TD and celebrated by doing a full front flip into the end zone, landing awkwardly and suffering a bad high ankle sprain (then doubled down on his stupidity by saying he’d do it again if he had the chance). We kept waiting for him to be an All-American, and it just never materialized. Of course, he had Nate Stanley and Spencer Petras throwing to him — not exactly Montana and Young — in a run-first offense.

Strangely enough, he may have the most value as a kick returner. He’s the second-leading kickoff returner in Big Ten history. Hopefully the Vikings see him as a receiver ... otherwise why draft both him and Kene Nwangu?

There’s a lot of talent there. At his best, he could be another Diggs-like steal in the fifth. But I’d say there’s just as much chance of him being the second coming of Stacy Coley.

This has nothing to do with Cousins. I have said he is the best we have had since Fran. This has to do with the best pick for the spot we were in. You don't think Jones is a good prospect. Bill B did. I think he's a good prospect. I'm sure other teams did also. I think the Steelers would have picked him. We were in the position to get a top player for the most important position. That don't happen very often. When it comes up you go for it. Regardless of need. The guy might be better than Cousins. Deal Cousins then after the CAP stuff is straighten out. The Chiefs do CAP stuff so can we. The Packers locker room isn't wreaked. They made the last two champ games. That's playing dam good ball. That's not a wreaked locker room. They had HOFA with a wreaked locker room. Last year was better than the previous. Love was traded up for. I said stay put and make the pick. That's a big difference. It's the pick I would have made. No more than that.

Except that you yourself created a post that Aaron Rodgers wants out of Green Bay. Do you want Kirk Cousins to be b!tching the way Rodgers has?

And you don’t seem to understand ... the Vikings can’t just “straighten out the cap stuff and deal Cousins.” The Chiefs do cap stuff? What does that even mean? Cousins’ salary, this year and next, is fully guaranteed. The only way to deal him is to find a team that will be willing to take on $35 million against their cap. Good luck with that. Cousins isn’t going anywhere until his contract expires, at the earliest.

Drafting Jones would have meant either a) using the 14th pick on a guy who’s going to hold a clipboard, or b) paying the guy with the highest cap hit in the NFL to do the same. It doesn’t make any sense.
