JOSH DOCTSON!?!?

BRUUUUUH I'M DYING OF LAUGHTER. REDSKINS NEED TO SIGN TREADWELL. :ripple:
Honestly, I kind of like that signing. I was actually a bigger Doctson fan than Treadwell fan during the draft process that year. I’m almost positive in most of my mocks I had us drafting him. Granted, he didn’t do much just like Treadwell. But I will say he had his best season under Kirk. Given the familiarity and red zone capability of Doctson, I think it’s a pretty decent signing to be honest

Might as well. I'm not opposed to this. Who got cut though?

I like this move. I watched him for three years in college and a good amount in Washington. When healthy, he was a favorite option for Kirk, especially in the fourth quarter. The guy can make circus catches (he’ll fit in well with Theilen and Diggs in this regard). I am excited to see how he does now that he’s back in purple and (most importantly) if he can stay healthy!

Here’s highlights from his best season with the Red Skins: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JTVQKlXwxqc

Trade for Vedvik, cut Colquitt and Bailey = problem solved!

He is potentially the type of WR the Vikes need. A jump ball guy to use in the red zone.

Potentially.

JOSH DOCTSON!?!
When the team that is most familiar with a player cuts him, you figure they know something. I don't think these moves work out too often. Not never, but not often.

This is really interesting.

I wanted Josh Doctson over Laquon Treadwell back when they were drafted. The Skins took Doctson one pick before we took Treadwell. Both were disappointments. Weird.

But ... Josh Doctson had his best season with Cousins in 2017 -- 35 catches for 502 yards and 6 TDs, which is just 15 yards fewer than Treadwell had in his entire time with Minnesota. Aldrick Robinson was a nice pickup last year, and he had previous experience with Cousins. Maybe Doctson becomes a capable #3 or #4 for us. Who knows?

For the record, I'm not against the move to get Doctson. He's solid #3 Material who can either:

A.) Force double coverage away from either Diggs, Thielen, or Rudolph, opening up 1-vs.-1 battles they will win every time.

B.) Cause enough separation from the nickel or dime to get a catch while Thielen and Diggs are double covered.

All in all, it's a solid move.

That's what I've been wanting to see, who was released to make room for him on the roster. Haven't seen a thing on it yet

Vikings.com still hasn't even reported that Doctson has signed, although everyone else in the world has (including NFL.com).

As long as he is a 3 or 4, preferably 4. Several knocks on him in Washington was injury, lack of desire, effort vs just not the player they thought he was from college.

Injury? He had one as far as anyone knows, but there was a bit of eyebrow raising from coaches. For whatever that means.

Since healthy, no production. People questioned whether he wanted to even be there. Of course, its Washington, with Potsie Webber for an owner and the Prince of Darkness as GM, who would? See Kirk, Trent. The list is long.

He just looks on the field like a guy who's heart just isn't in it. Or he was really not that good from the beginning. Either way he is a Treadwell level bust. But if he is a 4, he has a lot of physical ability. Don't see the harm in that.

They signed him to a 1 year prove it deal. So if he sucks, what is the downside? Is there someone else out there people would have preferred they sign that was available instead of Doctson?

My sense of the roster cuts at WR this year was that the offensive coaching staff basically cleaning out what they believed to be dead weight.

IMO Doctson at the very worst is cheap insurance for a single season. Given no long term cap hit, I'll take that.

Well, he was stuck in Washington, could anyone really blame him?
