For those interested in CJ Mosley and others from the Tide Pool.

Thanks for the link. The signing of Cassel and Mosely being there for us at #8, makes me think we could/should take him with our first pick, then draft a QB in the 2nd........and maybe even draft another QB next year.

According to the St. Pioneer Press, Rick Spielman, Zimmer, and Norv Turner when to the pro day. The fact that they brought Norv Turner along means they probably wanted to take a good look at AJ McCarron. Just throwing that out there. :D

If we managed to draft both CJ Mosley and McCarron, which is a possibility, I would go crazy!!!!!!

Mosley would be huge for us, if we get teh captain as well in FA??? Man would I be excited. That is some serious potential along with Zimmer's leadership / coaching to see some massive improvement on D.

As for Mccarron I'm not that interested, he kinda reminds me of Landry Jones out of OKC last year. Did about all you could ever do in college but just not a guy that's going to be a great pro. Better than Landry probably but I'm not sure that's enough.

I like McCarron more than most here, but then I watched him play in full games the last few years. I think the kid has potential.

As for Mosely, he's fantastic. I would be thrilled if the Vikings grabbed him in R1.

McCarron is one of the few "second tier" QB's I actually like. I think we could get him in the 2nd rnd.

Watkins wont be there. Evans might. He sure saved JFB's a$$ a lot. Im really at a loss to what Rickie might do. Maybe CB?

I feel draft CJ Mosely or Justin Gilbert in the first.
Jason Verrett in the second or a QB (Carr or someone if they fall)
3rd take a QB (Mettenberger or Jimmy G of AJ) or a LB like Smallwood or Scov OR S Bucannon
Late 3rd Deone Bucannon, Smallwood or Scov
Take a guard in the 4th or 5th

Any takers?

With the moves that we've made so far in FA, I wouldn't be too surprised if we took a QB first overall. Cassel's deal looks like a classic bridge QB deal. 2 years for a veteran who will likely start, you're definitely looking at a QB this year so he can sit in 2014, and maybe even 2015 (or at least part of it). No idea right now who that QB is going to be, but I'd be shocked if the Vikings didn't take a mobile QB. Rick likes to keep up with trends/set trends, and QBs that can run around and make plays with their legs are a huge asset nowadays with the way defenses are setting up. This is one of the big reasons he drafted Ponder IMO.

Otherwise, I'm sure Ricky's looking at Ra'Shede Hageman if they're attempting to make a move into a 3-4 scheme. He has great speed, he has that JJ Watt type of vertical leap, he's strong, and he's from here. I suspect if the Vikings were to sign Melton, it would be to a 1-2 year deal since he's coming off an ACL injury, and Hageman could just take right over in 2015/2016. Ricky likes drafting two players from the same school, and if they brought in Hageman I could definitely see them using a 5th or 6th on Brock Vereen (We definitely need a safety, and he might have had the best combine of any safety). You can get a guy like Chris Borland in the 2nd or 3rd (his stock is soaring right now, so you might have to reach for him).

Those would be my two favorites for the Vikings in R1. I'd be happy with either one.

I think Vikes can get Mosely after trading down from 8. More so if QB's fill the top 7 picks, leaving value at other positions down the draft board. I think Vikes will have some trade down scenarios in their back pocket, with teams like Cowboys or Ravens.

Draft Mosely after trading down, use additional picks to trade back up for CB...if they see a big talent difference between Gilbert and say Verret or Roby who both might be on board at high 2nd.

If VIkes could walk away with Mosely AND Gilbert, plus QB project with latter pick, and filler at OL...very successful draft.

Ive been a supporter of drafting Mosley with our #1 pick since I joined these boards. I think our team has lacked that MLB leader for as long as I can remember. Jack Del Rio is the name that comes to mind as the last time we really had a MLB that lead the defense. I believe Mosley's leadership skills are a bonus to his physical and instinctual qualities. Something you don't get out of Audie Cole, Jasper Brinkley, Mauti, ect.

First off. In a perfect world, we could trade up or down at will and get the guys we want. However, realistically, there are only a few teams we could trade with, and still be fairly certain to get him. I think once you get out of the top 10, he could go at any time. Titans at 11, Bears at 14, Steelers at 15 and Ravens at 17 all have potential needs at that position after losing long time Veteran Stars. If we think he is the guy that could give us what we want, I would draft him #8 and prep for the 2nd round to see what is going to be there. Unless of course someone gives us some wonderful deal where we are obviously coming out way ahead. If that happens, we probably won't get Mosley, but will be setup for more picks in the late 1st, early 2nd, 3rd type rounds. Still getting some great players, but maybe not Mosley or Gilbert.

I see the Vikings moving back into the bottom of the 1st to grab a QB when one of the "top 3" falls that low.
