On the bright side, Blackburn pitched well last night.

What happens to our offense on the road? Are they trying too hard?
I saw Jim Thome was not in the starting lineup, although he has a very good average against the Ranger's pitcher who pitched tonight. THAT is the kind of move that Gardy makes that just pisses me off.

Exactly. Since Pavano has his own catcher, Mauer gets to DH. In a tough road series, with Morneau already out, make Pavano be a big boy and throw to Mauer, and keep Thome in there, we need all the sticks we can in Texas. He is such an idiot.

Well, we've lost th first two games, and down 2-0 in the first inning of the third game with arguably our best pitcher on the mound. Not looking so good. Our offense needs to figure out how to hit on the road. They go completely silent when they are not in TF.
That and we need to get rid of Tolbert and Slowey. Oh, and Punto. those three take up a spot for just about any other carbon-based creature that could be thrown out there and do better.

We are so lucky to be in a #### division. What a joke. I realize Texas is a good team, but our offense is puke on the road against good teams. What I don't get, again, is when your pitcher needs 90 pitches to get through 5 innings and is obviously struggling, and you have the best bullpen in MLB, why would you keep putting the pitcher out there? If Gardenhire knew how to use a bullpen, they wouldn't be overused. Your pitcher is flying through the other team's lineup, but OH NO he gets to 100 pitches in the 8th inning... GO TO THE BULLPEN!! TROUBLE!!! Then the pitcher needs 90 pitches to barely get through 5 innings, and you just came back to tie it, KEEP HIM OUT THERE!!!

I would hate to see the Twins record against the quality teams. After being swept by Texas, and given all that has happened over the years against the Yankees, I wonder what the Twins record would be if they and the Orioles or Jays switched Divisions.

Well this series is a preview of what would happen IF we made the playoffs. Swept. We just cant play with good teams, we have to go to our bullpen too early a lot of the time, and on the road we dont score as well. We may win the division as I dont think the Sox are a whole lot better, but which ever team in the AL central makes the playoffs, will also make an immediate exit from them.

i'm sharing your frustration, and this is merely a formality....but we haven't been swept yet. :D don't know if it is a good thing or not but we still play them one more time tonight...

And not to get off track here, but why do the White Sox think Manny Ramirez would help them? They need pitching, not outfielders or DH's. Idk, it seems like a silly move, unless they just picked him up without sending anything to the Dodgers. Maybe Geoff or Jim can provide some insight??? :?

looks like you might have been right PMR. twins on the verge of getting swept like you predicted. gotta admit i thought we'd take 2 easily and wouldn't have been shocked if we stole a third. as it is we're just trying to come away with a single win. gay.

I wouldn't be shocked if they won tonight, but I knew we would not win more than one in this series. I don't know how a team can be so good at home and so lousy on the road. Texas' pitching is not that good.

But the Twins pitching isnt that special either. :beerchug: And it seems we forget how to play when we are not at Target Field.

i'm annoyed by the twins play on the road too. but just to put it in perspective, only five teams have a .500 record or better on the road. 3 of those in the al east. (tampa, boston, new york) twins have been the 6th team in baseball with a .500 + record on the road till that loss last night. we win toninght and we're there again. some of the road records of some really good teams might surprise you.
