The cap could have cleared up any number of ways, there was no benefit from doing it with a Cousins extension. In fact the extension hurts our ability to sign players this season.
This offense is going to positively suck this year. It isn't going to get better trading away one of the best players on offense, it is going to get worse. That 22nd pick looks great until it becomes a rookie who needs time to develop if he even develops at all. The team is going to lose double digits, Rick is going to canned and so is Zimmer.
And people are happy about this trade. Wow.
The Vikings have 2 firsts 1 second and 2 thirds in this years draft. That's about the same draft capital that the Cowboys used to create their dynasty. Not saying I'm just saying.
Yeah except Vikings gave alot more picks than those 4 picks to the Cowboys

The Texans made a stupid trade but they are two different transactions. No one knows if the Bills had the same offer on the table. The Texans obviously think very highly of Johnson who was also part of the deal.
Except Johnson sucks, Texans made a very stupid trade
Yeah it’s almost like I said that...

If Diggs didn't like Cousins he'll love Allen.

1 Josh Allen 2018 2019 28 15-12-0 440 781 56.3 5163 30 78.2 21
2 Kirk Cousins 2018 2019 31 18-12-1 732 1050 69.7 7901 56 103.0 16
I hate to be mean, but Diggs deserves that.

True, but my point is this has potential to work out very well for the Vikings. Unless we trade some of that draft capital for proven players we did get worse for 2020 though.

Johnson is completely washed up and on a very large contract. Houston gave up Hopkins and a fourth to take on a very bad contract and only got a 2nd round pick to show for it. One of the worst trades in NFL history.

Buffalo gave up 4 picks for Diggs which they could have gave up 2 picks for Hopkins for cheaper, Bills got fleeced and Bill fans are saying the same and said Bills should have gotten Hopkins for cheap instead of giving up a boatload for Diggs

Johnson used to be great, but is now horrible. He fell off a cliff much the same as Xavier Rhodes. IMO he is a very negative part of that trade.

Johnson was one of those dudes that just came outta nowhere and looked like a gem, then became injury prone and flamed out real quick.
I told my buddy last night I'm guessing down in Houston there are alot of people adopting the
"Old Wild West" days , and posses are being formed and looking to hunt down O'Brien. He better be looking for the Old Blackbird Pass to Mexico.. from Young Guns movie. Lol.
I'm guessing Billy ain't real popular in Houston right now.

Traded away the best offensive player on the team (by far), and extend Cousins two more years. Sad day to be a Vikings fan (for me).
Best of luck Diggs. See you on the highlight reel.

FFS. Another player to take off the website banner lmao
He didn't want to be on the team so don't force him. As long as you can get decent compensation and they did.

Brown did pretty well with Allen last year, and I expect Diggs to do the same.
But yes, our 7th year QB has better numbers than a guy who has played fewer than 2 full seasons. You make a point.

I'd take Allen over Cousins right now. Younger, cheaper, more upside. Love his fire, his physical skills, the way he extends plays. He's young and still learning. We already know what Cousins is and where he'll lead the Vikings. When you think about it, Diggs might be going to the better team.

But look at his numbers in his first two years!!!!
Just as an FYI:
Cousins in his first 2 years:
1-3, 8 TDs 10 Ints, 68.8 passer rating, 56% completion percentage and 6.5 YPA

The draft is a crapshoot so yeah, Vikings could draft a bust
That's true, but Diggs was a 5th round pick that we got several good and cheap years out of and he has now returned a first, fourth, fifth and sixth round pick.
True, true, I did not think about that

I wonder why he hated Kirk so much.
On a positive note, we should be in a good spot to draft a QB high in the draft next season.
Diggs had an elite year in 2019. Not good, not great, elite. He played in an offense that didn't throw the ball a lot, but on a per pass basis, only Michael Thomas caught more yards per pass attempt than Diggs did.
He was the passing offense last year and without him I have no idea how we are going to move the ball through the air. Hopefully they extend Cook now, because if he holds out, this could really turn into a disaster.
I do not know if I want to see Cook extended, he can not stay healthy
