Oh yeah I agree we definitely need one now. But I can understand why they didn’t put a ton of thought into that position in the off-season after seeing this offense in actionMothman wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 10:13 amIt just did. That's my point. If Beebe's out, they need another active WR. 3 isn't enough.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 9:36 amAny position could become a need due to injuries though.
I think we got our wires crossed. I wasn't talking about the roster decisions in the offseason or to begin the season. I was just referring to what they need now.

I believe Sherels is injured. But if healthy, I would love to bring him back. Mainly because Cliff’s posts would become more recognizable again with his tried and true Avatar. That and Beebe has a nasty penchant for muffing punts. It hasn’t bitten us yet, but it will eventually.

I am not sure if he is hurt now or if he was just hurt at the end of the Saints training camp and got an injury settlement because of it.Purple Domination wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 12:49 pm I believe Sherels is injured. He might be worth a look to bring in until Hill is back at least.

TE's seem to be this defenses Achilles heel. Granted a lot of yards and receptions Waller got was on the last drive against a 2nd string defense that was just trying to keep everything in front of them. But he was productive before that and would have been more if not for that big drop.
Waller is a good TE, the Raiders let Cook walk because of the confidence in him. He's not a Kelce, Kittle or Ertz but I think he's going to be a top 10 TE this year.

He is a very good TE, who could be in that same tier if he had a better QB. A match up nightmare for every team, not just the Vikings.S197 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 3:25 pm TE's seem to be this defenses Achilles heel. You're exactly right, VL. They named him the Most Valuable Viking in 1969, and at the banquet, he left the award on the table. He said, "There is no most valuable Vikings. There are 40 most valuable Vikings. Thank you very much, but I can't accept this award." Can you imagine somebody today doing that? It would be unheard of.VikingLord wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 9:33 amJ. Kapp 11 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2019 8:12 pm Today was my annual trek to US Bank Stadium. One of my favorite weekends so far.
First of all ... highlight of the day. OK, highlight of just about my entire football life ...
I met Joe Kapp ... shook his hand and talked with him for a few minutes!![]()
Better late than never I always say.
Joe Kapp was just a little before my time, so I don't have the memories of him that you do, but at the same time, I know how he played and how his character imbued those early years of the Vikings. With him, it wasn't an act. IIRC, even when the team tried to give him an award he talked about how it was 40 for 60. He wouldn't take credit as an individual.
I also recall when there was an old-timers reunion that brought Kapp and Angelo Mosca together on stage, even after all those years the two still didn't like each other and actually got into it. Even then, Kapp gave as good as he got. Not sure if this is admirable, but it speaks to just how genuine Joe Kapp was and still is I'm sure.
For those who never saw the fight, here is a link to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyoEcbk3EP0
The fight with Mosca was interesting. He and Mosca were teammates at Cal in the 1950s, but opponents in the CFL. In the title game one year, Mosca laid a hit on one of Kapp's teammates that injured his knee pretty badly. Kapp took huge exception to what he felt was a dirty hit, and he held the grudge for decades. The man took no bull from anybody.
Here's a great video of Kapp in action. Nice and short, about 3 1/2 minutes. Watch him around the 2:07 mark. He runs with the ball and absolutely destroys a Browns linebacker. Runs him over and knocks him out cold. They don't make 'em like Kapp anymore.

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.

I miss him (and the avatar) too. Always felt safe fielding a punt with Sherels. I honestly don't know which avatar I'm going to switch to now. I was going to keep it an active player but I'm considering something more permanent.Purple Domination wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 12:49 pm I believe Sherels is injured. He is really a WR. They buffed him up out of college but he's a nother tall guy I loved in college (GT I think)StumpHunter wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 3:32 pmHe is a very good TE, who could be in that same tier if he had a better QB.
