all of you are forgetting one thing: favre is the closest thing to a super bowl the vikngs have ever seen, even closer than cunningham. favre was so beat up from illegal hits he threw that dumb pass across his body and that was it. but, we were the best team that year anyway it didn't matter. in my lifetime, the 98 vikes and the 09 vikes were my favorites, but the 09 team was way more complete.

It's preseason. As much as I am excited about Bridgewater, we have to remember it is preseason and no real indicator of anything.

I think that's a fair statement. Tarvaris always was a "pre-season wonder" that hardly ever translated well into the regular season. He had a few good games (regular season) but never with enough consistency to become our solution at QB. I also agree it would be premature to say Bridgewater will be a great QB, but he is at least turning in a performance that would lead one to believe there is a chance that he might become one. I can cite cases where a QB played well in pre-season, but not in the regular season. Can anyone cite an example of poor pre-season play that was followed-up by stellar regular season play?

My point wasn't to say that he is (or will become good). My point was to say that he is taking the step(s) needed to at least give us "hope" that he will be good. If he's turning in poor pre-season play, he's not even in the running for that...

Thank you for clarifying, I had missed your point in your previous post. I typically agree with your assessments and opinions. Thats why I was a little confused and had to throw out the other stats.

i don't know how old MossCarter is but I get the impression that those super bowls were before his time.

it's funny though packers fans are still celebrating wins from the 30's.

A real fan would know how many Super Bowls their team has been in even if it they were 'before his time'.

I guess I don't hold any grudge for fans celebrating their team's previous wins. I'm also a Raider fan and if I didn't celebrate their previous Super Bowl wins I wouldn't have much to celebrate recently.

While we're on the subject, I have to say that I don't really think of the 2009 Vikes as a more complete team than the '98 Vikes. It's a matter of perception, of course, but the '98 team scored more points, gave up fewer and went into the playoffs on an 8 game winning streak whereas the 2009 Vikes stumbled down the stretch of the regular season, losing 3 of their last 5. That team was a little stingier on defense in terms of yards allowed but the '98 team looked like they were on their way to becoming one of the all-time greats. I consider them the superior team, although both teams got all the way to OT in the NFCC game before blowing their chance to advance.

I would like to point out one thing. The City of Green Bay only has a population of 104,000. The 300,000 number comes from the Green Bay metropolitan area. Which includes 3 counties and areas that are up to 50 miles away.
