THAT would have been interesting.

Heck yeah, he's a punk. But I still have enjoyed watching him and listening to him for years.

His words don't hurt anyone. He's criticizing the play of top, extremely well-paid athletes. It's the kind of smack talk that adds to the entertainment value of sport without any downside. He's not criticizing someone's family. He's not even dumping on second stringers. He's taking on zillionaires who get mad props from fans, and saying he's better than they are. It's the same stuff that Ali did for years, not to mention some other great athletes.

Would I want Sherman to marry one of my daughters? Not a chance. But do I consider myself a fan of his talent and his verbal hype? Absolutely. It's all in good fun.

Now, the one concern I do have about Sherman is the report about performance enhancing drug use. He did beat that rap, but it has concerned me. That is a big deal. Smacktalk about the action on the field is not, IMHO.

As far as Sherman goes, I respect his game and he made a great play, but he is all over the place with his comments, everything he says is a contradiction to something else he's said previously. It's annoying AF, but I think complaining or hating on him is like wrestling a pig. You get dirty and after a while you come to realize that the pig likes it. He is irrelevant to me ha.

As far as Seattle, the thing I was most disgusted by is the reports that Seahawk fans were throwing garbage and food at Bowman when they carted him off the field. I understand that's not representative of their whole fanbase and that all fanbases have some bad eggs, but that is just totally uncalled for.

I agree. And Sherman spoke out against that. There's some class and decency in there somewhere. ;)

Sherman isn't paid to be a role model. Hes the best at what he does on the field. Crabtree and Harbough are babies. Sherman helped his team get to the SB. That's what I want for the Vikings. Im not watching football to see who has the most class. Or who is better educated. Or who graduated with the highest GPA. I want a SB victory before I die. And that starts with a good D.

Actually if you read the whole article, with the exception of the pass interference I quoted him on, he came across pretty well in the article. He just lost some credibility with me when he made that statement about the "BS interference call". I've seen Central Park muggings look a little less obvious than that.

I'm sure he'll lose a lot of sleep over that though.

I missed that one, but it doesn't change my position on Sherman. In a civilization that was on the incline instead of the decline he would have no place in the NFL or the public eye whatsoever.
You seriously believe the rise or fall of a civilization is signalled by the lack or preponderance of trash talk?

Sherman=funny. He likes the attention.

What the pick play on Talib? Any thoughts?

I liked how Dilfer explained it on ESPN. Legal hit as long as the ball is not in the air. It appears the hit and D Thomas touches the ball at about the same time. The hit it self was clean. A good no call.

I don't remember seeing anything dirty at the time. I watched again online...nothing.

But...

ESPN - Pats coach Bill Belichick calls out Wes Welker for hit on Aqib Talib: "One of the worst plays I've seen"

One of the worst?! And how long has dude been watching football? He has got. to. be. kidding.

 Waaaah. This is why people don't like the Patriots.

Billy boy teaches the same thing in New England. A little sour maybe?

What I would love to see is a video of Welker doing the same thing when he was in New England. That would classic.

Yes I'd wan't him suspended for next Sunday. He can play the Sunday after that

Just Me wrote:I was thinking the same thing. It worked out OK, but that was "in spite of the refs." I really don't get their logic at all. We'll have replay to "get the game right" except for things we don't allowed to be reviewed, and those will be arbitrarily decided. You got two challenge flags per half, let the team review anything they want to. If you waste your challenges on two holding calls and miss a chance to challenge a completed pass, then live with it.
If the goal of instant replay was to get calls right, there wouldn't be a challenge flag system in the first place. The entire system is in place to placate fans and gamblers.
