I didn't watch many UCLA games this year, but the one or two I did see I recall that Barr did not stand out at all. CJ Mosely, OTOH, was a monster whenever I caught Alabama's games.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised in the least if the vikings traded out of the first round. This is a very deep quarterback draft, and I think the vikings are taking a long look at Garappolo. I have been watching all the tape I could find on this guy, and damn this guy has one of the best throwing motions I have ever seen. I think the vikings would be wise to stay away from the QB's in the first round.
I also wouldn't be upset if they went with Barr, or Mack with a first round pick if the chose to stay in the first.

I hear what you're saying but why would we trade out of the first round?? Do you mean trade out of our first pick? Because if we ever traded out of the first round that means we would be dropping at least 24 picks.

Rick could probably get a LOT of value if he went that route. It would probably mean picking up a couple of seconds and a couple of mid round picks or a second, third for this year and a first next year. I doubt he would do it, but make no mistake, we would get several quality picks in return. That said, I don't believe he should do so, but it isn't unheard of.

I watched part of a UCLA game this year out of interest for this guy and I saw nothing. Granted I'm not a trained eye for this stuff, but all I saw him doing was trying to straight speed rush by the tackle, and he was getting handled one on one too while doing it. I can't remember who it was against but I didn't see anything from him that excited me.

The chances of us trading down or out of the first at the #8 slot with a new coach are close to zero.

Why not? If the quarterback we want is gone by then, I don't see the vikings trying to reach again for a quarterback. They may not trade out of the first round, but I can certainly see them trading back. Zimmer is well known for getting the most out of late round talent.
I guess its just wishful thinking, the more likely scenario will likely be a reach at QB, and it will probably be Carr unless something magical happens and the top 3 QB's drop to us. I doubt we will trade up.

He might drop in the draft. Probalby not too far though only because there's always some poor sap who drafts off of pure athletic potential.

I still disagree. A QB doesn't have to be our first pick. Nor do I think it will be. I think we will either stay put and draft the BPA defensively or trade down and go defense. I doubt Spielman reaches on a QB again. I'm sure he's learned his lesson.

I'm beginning to wonder if Minnesota should trade down.

I feel like this draft is extremely deep, but top heavy for certain players and then a no man's land from picks anywhere from 7-15. After that there is huge value that may help Minnesota if they traded down and grabbed another 2nd or third rounder.

Before the combine it's hard to pinpoint because things can change quite a bit, but I think Garoppolo will be there in the 2nd round if that's someone they really like. They should also be able to grab a quality DT if they moved down in the first as well. Between Nix, Hageman and Jernigan, there's great value.

If there's huge value after 15, I'm not sure I grasp how it's possible for picks 7-15 to be a no man's land.
