It's not that crazy. I'm sure they're signing him to backup money. They obviously like him. If they pay him TOP backup cash or slow starter money...then that'd be interesting. But it's not a bad idea to lock up your #2 if you think he can win some games for you down in the immediate and long-term future (if needed if injuries strike) if you can do it at a reasonable price.
