R.I.P, Chuck.
He was an absolutely terrific head coach who left quite an NFL legacy behind him

Has he always been a slot CB? From what I've read, seems like he just didn't fit with the new DC last year and was maybe miscast as a slot guy. I have a hazy recollection of him being a CB1 or CB2 years ago...but he's listed at 5'9" so maybe not...
In a way, Flowers is a similar player to Derek Cox: good numbers in the past but one bad year has knocked down their value. I hope the Vikings go after him but I've seen that people have already made the connection to the Texans with Romeo Crennel as DC. Seems like a strong likelihood.
No, you are right - he hasn't always been a slot guy. Flowers used to play on the outside regularly until this year. I am not sure Flowers is a good fit for our defense as we are moving into press- man - something which Flowers struggled with this past season. I would still take him on this team however.

Free agent QB Vince Young has announced his retirement from the NFL.
"I'm retired," Young said. "Unless we get a great opportunity, something guaranteed, I've started moving forward. It's definitely official, in my book." Young briefly signed with the Browns in May, but was released prior to minicamp. He hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2011. Young went 31-19 in six years as a starter, passing for 8,964 career yards, 46 touchdowns, and 51 interceptions. He made two Pro Bowl appearances. Young, 31, said he plans to work for the University of Texas in some capacity.

49ers CB Eric Wright is retiring.
Only 29 (next month), Wright is barely two years removed from signing a five-year, $37.5 million contract with the Bucs, but has seen his career go down in flames since getting his big deal. He served a four-game PED ban in 2012, and was busted for DUI last summer. He was released by the Bucs shortly thereafter. Wright signed with the Niners in August, but was limited to 120 defensive snaps across seven games last season. We'd assume Wright will be open to un-retiring if the right offer comes along.

Texans waived QB T.J. Yates.
The move comes on the same day coach Bill O'Brien admitted Ryan Fitzpatrick was the Texans' starter. Yates was set to do battle with Case Keenum and rookie Tom Savage for No. 2 duties, and Keenum for a roster spot. Instead, the Texans chose Keenum's 2013 film over Yates' distant 2011 accomplishments, where he was at the helm for Houston's first franchise playoff victory. Yates figures to draw interest from the Ravens, who are thin behind Joe Flacco, and have Yates' former coach Gary Kubiak calling the shots on offense.

Not a bad deal for the Texans. Did anyone else immediately think to themselves "Maybe the Vikings could actually get something for Christian Ponder after all"? Maybe this will be the year of the 3rd string QB trades.
