I think that there is no proof that Bridgewater would improve better by sitting, learning and taking notes, rather than jumping right into the thick of things. Some QBs learn better by experience, and some learn better by sitting initially, and I think it is almost impossible to predict which one if those Bridgewater is.

I do however, strongly believe he gives the Vikings the best chance to win, and I think that when it comes down to it, you gotta go with the guy that gives you the best chance to win. Again, just my opinion.

Once training camp starts, I think the depth chart will clear itself up and this debate won't hold water. Then, when TB establishes himself as THE franchise QB, there won't be any QB controversy for what, the next 7 years? So basically, we have only a few months before the whole QB argument will disappear completely from this, or any Vikings board. Get your opinions in while you still can.

I think with a new coaching staff and the tough schedule, the QB question rolls for most of the season.

The fact that this board is still debating Ponder vs. Cassel makes my head spin.

I will silence this debate right now: Cassel is better than Ponder but Teddy Bridgewater will be better than both. Debate over.

I happen to think, it would be EXTREMELY unfortunate, if he wasn't better then Cassel and Ponder, as that would mean he was below league average.

to me there is no question Teddy Bridgewater has all the skills and tools to play at an NFL level ...

The only question that remains is can he handle the speed and pressure of the NFL ??

If he can i would say we have our guy for years to come ..

My prediction is that he will be a Brees/Wilson highbred. He sees the field, reacts to the situation, and seems to make the "smart" throws.
He will be a very good QB for the Vikes for the next several years.

Im not sure about the Brees/wilson comparison. I really really want Teddy Bridgewater to be what we are looking for, but im not getting my hopes up, we as vikings fans have endured so much bad quarterback play that it makes my head hurt. I kept telling my dad that I thought after the 2012 season that we would see ponder make the leap and I ate a massive amount of crow for it lol. We will see in preason and camp how bridgewater handles things. I pray to god he is our franchise Quarterback.

From watching his tapes so far he reminds of Jeff Garcia some .. pocket passer with some mobility..

good at reading sets.. but his accuracy seems a little better so far

keep in mind norv turned watched bridgewater work out multiple times and wanted us to draft him and he is one of the best offensive minds in the game. plain and simply we took a huge leap on ponder because we were desperate. i'm not saying he will be a phenom, but i think he will be a very good qb. he just needs some game action and to get bounced around a little to wake him up some.

Word is bond. Bridgewater has looked very impressive up to this point and there’s a noticeable difference when he throws the ball compared to Matt Cassel and Christian Ponder. The touch has always been there but his passes don’t flutter out of his hands. It’s a smooth, quick release that even the untrained eye will tell in training camp that Bridgewater throws a better ball than Ponder and Cassel.

As offensive coordinator Norv Turner mentioned during minicamp last month, Bridgewater’s deep ball has been surprisingly good. The biggest issue has actually been overthrowing, not underthrowing, at this point. This will be the biggest position battle in training camp and the winner will have nice set of weapons around him in what should be an exciting offense to watch this year.

Vikings' Teddy Bridgewater not 'comfortable' talking about team's QB job

"That's something I don't feel comfortable talking about," Bridgewater said Monday. "I'm just looking forward to training camp. Can't wait to get to Mankato, put the pads on and just continue doing what we've got to do: play football."

Cassel, a 10th-year veteran with 68 NFL starts, is the heavy favorite to start entering camp after re-signing on a two-year, $10.5 million contract in March. But Bridgewater, the final first-round pick (32nd ovreall) of May's draft, got some first-team reps during offseason practices and acquitted himself well.

Teddy sounds so much more mature then JFB. He just does his job, and keeps his mouth shut and doesn't draw attention to himself, other then what he does on the field. But I guess that wont matter if he isn't cut on to be our QB. I would think though, he starts sooner rather then later. Cant believe its almost July. As much as I hate the weather, I cant wait for this season.
