I feel that some are getting way to worked up about KAM and KOC and their vision compared to our hopes, dreams, and expectations. We fans are passionate and feel that we have more vested interest in the Vikings, than the new group does.
Listen to the interviews with Harrison and Hicks. They are very cerebral players and speak exceptionally well. They do not make dumb mistakes. They are also incredible players that immediately are major upgrades. I feel that the new regime will be adding intelligent players that have a team first mentality. How can any of us argue with that? I expect many more players like this being signed. Ray Lewis did an interview stating that Peyton Mannings wife addressed him at the Pro Bowl one year. She said that Peyton studied him every day !!! That made an impact in Lewis who then installed a theatre in his room and began doing the same. It is not a fluke that Ray Lewis is one of the best LB to ever play. It takes commitment off the field as much if not more than on it.
Btw, They have restructured Smith and Thielen today saving another $14m.
To say that we do not know their plan and that Kwesi needs to be fired now is ridiculous. Maybe the plan is for putting the best team possible and competing now, without mortgaging the future and setting us up for failure. Maybe the plan is to have more FA money available next year and go into FA as the Big Buyers. Just because you do not understand their vision, does not make it wrong.
Regardless, I suggest we let them do their jobs and stop being so skeptical and negative. Look at the type of players they are talking to and bringing in. Listen to the other players and coaches talk about these guys. We do not have to like every move, but be patient.
I think we do a lot better than some are envisioning now.

Very rational post. If we agreed with every move they make the Vikings should have just hired us for much less. I think they have a plan and they could have done the restructures earlier if they needed to. How much cap space do we have now?

Vikings have $2.423m in cap space right now.
This is according to Overthecap which is usually a very up to date site.

And $22 million in dead money.

That's kind of like having $20 in a bank account and $20,000 in credit card debt. Apologies to anyone in that situation.

This is what Kwesi was left to clean up.

Correct. I have not been impressed with any of his moves so far, from his HC search to what he has done so far in free agency, but I wonder how much of this is his fault.

Kwesi obviously wanted Harbaugh as his HC, and would not have brought him in if he wasn't going to give him the job. The Wilfs had other ideas, likely because Harbaugh wanted to rebuild, while the Wilfs wanted to maintain their "competitiveness". So Kwesi had the best candidate who he wanted, he just got overridden. O'Connell isn't a bad second choice, but if he fails it will be on the Wilfs, not Kwesi.

The Cousins extension might not be the Wilfs or Kwesi. If no team came to the Vikings offering a trade higher than a 2nd round pick, and Kwesi felt there wasn't an option in the draft he could realistically draft this year that would end up being our QBOTF, extending Cousins might have been the only way the Vikings could go into the 2023 season not being desperate for a QB. I don't agree with that move, and think it hurts us more than helps us, but my job is not on the line if I win a combined 10 games over the next two seasons.

As for no significant moves in free agency so far, that was expected with our cap situation. We didn't have the cap to spend on a top free agent, so we are not going to get a top free agent. That is on Rick, not Kwesi, and it will be years before he is able to clean up the former GM's mess.

Hunter being traded is another matter, but again might be the result of the Vikings just not being able to afford him. I would not trade him, and don't think there is any way we will get enough value back in a trade to make up for what we would be losing, but Hunter has missed a lot of games the past two seasons, and there is pretty much no chance we compete for a title even with Hunter in the next couple of seasons with the mess the Vikings are dealing with. Some could argue we shouldn't have extended Cousins if that was the case, and they would be right, but I also think if the Vikings could give Hunter a similar deal to Cousins they probably would.

Well, Vikings decided to pay his $18 million roster bonus and keep him for 2 more years on his contract, that is a very risky move since he had injury issues

I have no idea what is going on this year, esp, with Hunter, and are we in the win now mode? Which is what Rick was going to do, but then got fired? If people aernt seeing the Wilfs finger prints all over every thing vikings, they aernt looking very hard.

I agree with you on this one, I believe Harbaugh was going to be the guy and the Wilfs weren't on board about his opinions on the current roster and wanting to rebuild. I'd assume if Harbaugh got the job the direction KAM would of took would of looked similar to what Poles is doing in Chicago, 130 million in cap space next year.

The Vikings becoming the Lions or the Jets is looking more likely under Wilf leadership.

As long as we have Kirk we won't fall to those depths, but without better D we won't go far either.
