Sendejo did exactly what he should have done. He tried to separate the receiver from the ball. He led with his shoulder ... not his fault that the other DB's head got hit. It's clearly not the days of Ronnie Lot anymore, but that's what a safety is supposed to do when a receiver comes over the middle.

If Paul Krause would have done that to Drew Pearson in '75, we might have a Super Bowl trophy.

I have watched it, and a whiffed hit would not have helped. Maybe you could enlighten me how a guy completely missing the WR could have helped?

It isn't just one play. The guy has earned a reputation for hurting his own players and every Vikings fan knows this. Including you.

That's exactly what it is Kapp. It's a cherry picked play to make a case of it being a stupid signing. I've never heard of a team not signing a player because of 1 play. Hell even 10 plays. But if we're going off of 1 play, I'll say the Sendejo signing is an excellent move because he caught an insane interception against Drew Brees in the playoffs. There.

Stump, clearly you havent paid enough attention to Sendejo when he was here. He was the starting safety during that "elite pass defense" time. I couldnt stand watching him early in his career because I thought he was terrible in coverage but ever since Zimmer got his hands on him, he was a completely different player and greatly improved. Judging him off of one play is pretty ridiculous. I dont care if you have a couple more plays in your pocket. Bottom line is, he was a key piece to this defense for some time, knows this defense very well and now provides us with some quality, quality depth at the safety position. Excellent signing.

I think this is you day dreaming. I dont ever recall him "hurting his own players" here. And I can guarantee hardly any Vikings fans, including myself are concerned with him doing that. Nor is it a good reason to leave a veteran like that on the waiver wire.

When Zim came, Sendejo's game really turned around and he was one of our better DBs almost instantly. It was a big surprise. I think the move to bring him in as a backup makes a ton of sense. I do think he has the tendency to get a little out of control sometimes and can pick up some dumb penalties, but not enough for me to not want him here.

FWIW, in 2015 he concussed Rhodes vs SD. In that play, I personally don't think it was because he was out of control.

He knows about Sendejo's reputation for injuring his own teammates, everyone who has followed the team closely knows.

The guy is an aging safety who lost his starting spot to Harris and was just cut from a terrible Eagle's secondary. Get excited!

You hit that on the head. I always thought he was a bum and we needed to replace him. But he did improve once Zim came here. The Eagles cut him because he's not a good player and he's old. As a backup? I'd rather keep a kid and develop him. It won't make any difference anyway. Holding a spot on the pine.

Glad to have him back. I know people were saying how awful he was and how he was a head hunter but man, talk about paying dividends immediately.

I was good when we re signed him. I always loved his play, just didn't like some of the penalties that came with his aggressive play. He sure came through yesterday.

He made some big plays.

Wow, he made a big impact yesterday. He really stepped up when the team needed it. It was so nice to see an INT made after seeing so many drops lately. That play was huge for us.

The interception was huge!

'Dejo's aggressiveness against the run was a big factor, too. He's a smart player who knows where to be and how to get there.
