It was great watching AD run all over the Raiders. Add to that Patterson returning a kick for a TD and it made my day.
I know some wanted AD traded but I'm glad Peterson is still a Viking. His contribution to the team is still amazing.

I don't think there's any way they'd be 7-2 right now without him.

Something clicked for AP in the Bears game. He's a different runner than he was the first six games. Decisive, explosive, hitting the hole like a Mack truck. Now today he added the explosive long run.
2,000 yards? Two weeks ago, I said no way. I still don't know how likely it is, but this season's trajectory is looking strangely like 2012.

As of today, he is 4 yards over were he was after 9 games in 2012. However, he is doing it on an average of an extra 3 carries per game.
2012 9 games 957
2013 9 games 961
Let's see what next week brings. In 2012 he averaged 204 yards per game against the Packers.
Peterson 15000 yards as a Viking?

Can Peterson Gain 15,000 yards as a Viking?
I looked at Peterson's career numbers and based on 106 yards average for the rest of contract
and about 500 yards in post season during that time he is likely to hit 15000 yards as a Viking
and in top 4 all time during his current contract.
very possible IMO

Here's a nugget for you:
http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/ ... n-peterson
Peterson's performance against the Raiders...
... gave him six 200-yard games in his career, matching O.J. Simpson for the most in NFL history, and helped Peterson pass Randy Moss for the most plays of 50 yards or more in Vikings history.
That's a pretty impressive accomplishment for a
running back.

A few weeks ago, AP talked about watching film of his runs and noticing that he was dancing and being hesitant at the line. At about the same time, NORV (

Moth) started using more multi-TE formations and running more out of the I. I think it's a combination of both: the Vikings coaches going back to what AP does best, and AP doing his work in the film room.
I don't worry about 2,000 yards (hey, it would be great, but ...). I'd be willing to bet that if you gave Peterson the choice -- 2,000 and a .500 record or 1,500 and a playoff-qualifying winning record, he'd take option No. 2 every time.

Interesting fact I found out. If I did the search correct, Peterson has 23 runs of 50 yards or more during his carreer. 16 (69.6) have come on first down with 10 yards to go.
In 2012, he had 7 plays longer than 50 yards accounting for 466 yards of his total. So 22% of his 2097 yards was gained on 7 plays.

Peterson currently leads the league with 961 rushing yards. He's 227 yards ahead of Chris Johnson, the next closest player. He will likely go over 1,000 total yards Sunday against the Packers, whose run defense is ranked 24th in the NFL (116.2 yards per game).
I thought maybe the author was a little 'too conservative."
For Peterson *not* to break 1000, the Packer defense would have to hold him to 38 yards rushing for the game. (I know other factors could impact the outcome, and I'm not predicting even that Peterson will be able to rush for the 'average' that GB gives up, but does anyone know if Peterson has
ever been held to that low of a total?

Yes, quite a few times, in fact. He only had 31 rushing yards in the week one loss to SF.
In his rookie year, those darn 49ers held him to his lowest total ever in the NFL: 3 yards on 14 carries! It was an incredible defensive performance.
The Packers won't hold him under 38 though.

I'm hoping to see him go over 1200 this sunday.

I know the Packers' defense isn't great right now but giving up 1,200 on Sunday is probably a bit extreme
