Re: "Bubble" players
I don't think Jabari Price's two game suspension is going to make that much of a difference on whether he makes the roster or not. His DWI was last winter. If the Vikings were that upset about it seems like they would have cut him loose months ago.
Price and Waynes were with the 2s today at CB. Sherels was with the 3s. If Price has a good camp he should have a very good shot at making the roster. I could see a scenario where Price and Sherels make the roster with Sherels being released when Price comes back for week 3. Or a guy like Justin Coleman makes the roster and is released after week 2 when Price comes back and then we stash Coleman on the PS after he clears waivers.
Still think Sherels' ability to make the roster this year is dependent on retaining the punt returner role. If Diggs can prove he can handle the punt return job don't think we'll keep Sherels. We also had McKinnon taking some reps today as punt returner (along with Thielen and Wright). McKinnon would be very intriguing as a PR given his skill set, but I don't know if he's had any prior experience doing it.

Re: "Bubble" players
based on CAMP and other things I am pretty sure the following players are safe and make the 53
Zach Line.. Norv spoke very highly of his offseason
Diggs .. the guy has done nothing but perform as well as anybody on the Vikings
Mycole Pruitt.. Norv's project player IMO.. can play both blocking TE and FB
Crighton and Hunter have both played well on pass rush
Cole is getting number one reps
Exum has played well
Thompson has played well on the O line
...I would say Mike Mauti LB , Price CB , Yankey, OG Baps, leslie Jordan WR, Donte Foster WR, (Issac Fruchete WR practice squad), Faciene WR, Bostick TE, Jalil Carter CB, Brandon Watts, Josh Thomas CB, Dominque Willams RB,
Christan Rose DT, (Brian Peters LB can't get healthy) Lutman Gavin WR, Blake Renaud FB, Mike KafKa 2hd Cut QB, Emond Robison, Djuann Harris RB, Daniels Davarius WR, .. I have not heard anything good about
any of these players, to make the 53

He's also spoken highly of Chase Ford. I don't think both guys make the team. Certainly not unless they cut ties with Rhett Ellison. I see those 3 in a battle for 2 spots.jackal wrote:based on CAMP and other things I am pretty sure the following players are safe and make the 53

Dujaun Harris could replace Matt Asiata...but I think they like Matt despite his lack of dynamism.jackal wrote:...I would say Mike Mauti LB , Price CB , Yankey, OG Baps, leslie Jordan WR, Donte Foster WR, (Issac Fruchete WR practice squad), Faciene WR, Bostick TE, Jalil Carter CB, Brandon Watts, Josh Thomas CB, Dominque Willams RB,

Chase Ford he mentioned in the Video and Norv said two games they won last year because of him...
I think Asiata stays over Harris... he proved vauble in the pass game and short yardage ....

The vikings are going to have to cut some really good players this year. That's a great problem to have.jackal wrote:Chase Ford he mentioned in the Video and Norv said two games they won last year because of him...

I think the only group we have that needs real help is OL (hopefully its fixed by end of camp)The vikings are going to have to cut some really good players this year. That's a great problem to have.

It sounds like the line is improving .. Kalil is my biggest worry ...That's the weakpoint. Its likely to be a problem.
The other day; some player, put him on his rear end....

Re: "Bubble" players
I think his confidence is broken and he's unlikely to recover...sort of like Tiger Woods. Clemmings doesn't seem like an option and Bykowski is a long shot. If Thompson can't play LT in the NFL we probably wind up having to start Harris there at some point this season. I don't hate Harris and I think he did OK at RT last year, but he's far from a great candidate to fill in at LT.jackal wrote: It sounds like the line is improving .. Kalil is my biggest worry ...

What happened to Kalil? He looked like a beast during his rookie year.

Re: "Bubble" players
evidently his knees are shot, he has a fast metabolism and can't seem to keep on weight and strength, and he has struggled with his confidence, oh, and he's been playing injured. I'm sure I've forgotten some other theory that has been posited on here or by Zimmer or Kalil himself. Long story short, he is unlikely to return to rookie season form any time soon.Jordysghost wrote:What happened to Kalil? He looked like a beast during his rookie year.

I'm far from convinced that last line is true but time will tell.fiestavike wrote: evidently his knees are shot, he has a fast metabolism and can't seem to keep on weight and strength, and he has struggled with his confidence, oh, and he's been playing injured. Just my take. I'm not optimistic at this point, especially in light of camp reports not being encouraging.Mothman wrote: I'm far from convinced that last line is true but time will tell.

Personally, I put very little stock in camp reports, especially those from the amateur press, who seem to be doing the most commenting/criticizing when it comes to Kalil this summer. If he's truly healthy, I think he's likely to play well again, although there's certainly no guarantee that will be the case. We'll learn a lot more when we get to see him perform in some games.

Re: "Bubble" players
Out of curiosity, why? Would it be much different if it was Mike Mayock or Norv Turner watching Kalil getting beaten on the edge or inside? While I'll concede perhaps he could share some of the responsibility for a missed assignment with Fusco, I doubt getting beat as often as he is is a result of anything but his lack of execution.Mothman wrote:Personally, I put very little stock in camp reports, especially those from the amateur press, who seem to be doing the most commenting/criticizing when it comes to Kalil this summer.
I suppose we'll never know how healthy he truly is but count me in the corner of those that take his poor showing (by multiple sources, not just your buddy Arif dogging him) to date as a barometer (he's not just getting beat by Griffen). I'm settling in to believing this may be last season as a starter and that may not be a bad thing (hello stopgap Andrew Whitworth). My expectations for him are at an all-time low and I'm nervous for Teddy and the offense as a whole. If he's truly healthy, I think he's likely to play well again, although there's certainly no guarantee that will be the case.
