Re: Powers: Bridgewater goes from Vikings' future to present
Comment from John Sullivan in the Pioneer Press today about Teddy:
“Full confidence,” center John Sullivan said. “ We should win every game we play with him at quarterback.”
Now there is something to be said for having confidence, but that's being quite unrealistic, even for a veteran qb let alone a rookie. Comments like this make it hard for me take player comments seriously.

I laugh when reporters reach for quotes like this, so phoney. Is he going to say "No confidence at all, we will probably lose every game now".Purple Reign wrote:Comment from John Sullivan in the Pioneer Press today about Teddy:

I'm not saying he has given them a reason to not be confident, but nobody really knows how this will go yet. Ponder blew the doors down vs the cheese in 2011, that didn't turn out well. Teddy could look like the worst QB ever Sunday, and still wind up as a 10 year stud.

Re: Powers: Bridgewater goes from Vikings' future to present
I really don't see this as a reporter problem - Sullivan said it and the reporter is just quoting him. Of course Sullivan isn't going to say they will lose every game with Teddy. I think a better/more appropriate response would be something like "we should have a good chance at winning with Teddy" but to say we "should" win every game with him is a bit of a stretch. If that were the case, then according to Sullivan we should be the favorite in every game that Teddy starts, but we will see what the odds makers have to say.PurpleHalo wrote: I laugh when reporters reach for quotes like this, so phoney. I think what he means is the reporter probably asked "How confident are you with Teddy" as opposed to "what are your thoughts on having Teddy start" or something.Purple Reign wrote: I really don't see this as a reporter problem - Sullivan said it and the reporter is just quoting him. Sullivan was giving them quite a lot of smart ####, dead pan humor during that interview. It was pretty funny. its on vikings.com. I took it as a jab at the media obsession with QBs (and complete neglect of finer details like line play, etc). It was as though he was saying, "Yeah, who we have at QB decides everything, what the rest of us do means nothing, and since we have confidence in Teddy being a great QB obviously we should win every game with him in the position".jackal wrote:Yeah to me its just Sullivan saying the guy can do the job and we can win with Teddy..

I think you hit the nail on the head. We've all seen JS in on-camera stuff, and he does tend to be somebody who likes to cut up.fiestavike wrote: Sullivan was giving them quite a lot of smart ####, dead pan humor during that interview. And honestly, if somebody asked me an idiotic question like, "How confident are you with a rookie quarterback?" I'd probably give the same kind of answer. It's as if to say, "What do you expect me to say, Schmuckatelli?"

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.

Most questions asked by sports reporters are innane and useless. I very much wish they would fire ALL "on the field reporters". These Bimbos who bother the coaches in the middle of the game, ask absurd questions, and get empty answers (as if a coach in the middle of a game is going to give away ANY useful info!) or tell you what the weather feels like on the field. They really are just token females put there to make the network look like an equal opportunity employer.

They actually serve a useful role when reporting information on injuries during the games.chicagopurple wrote:Most questions asked by sports reporters are innane and useless. I think there are plenty of male sports reporters who ask innane and useless questions too. Many times its a dance of interviewer and interviewee cliche factories. However, there are some updates that are useful and sometimes you get an interesting interview.chicagopurple wrote:Most questions asked by sports reporters are innane and useless. He might have said "no confidence. His hands are too small, and did you see his Pro Day?"PurpleHalo wrote: I laugh when reporters reach for quotes like this, so phoney. Is he going to say "No confidence at all, we will probably lose every game now".

Had New Orleans beating the Vikes 29-20.
I see Atlanta winning 27-26.
Turnover and weather neutral, as always.
