Can't wait for the "see I told you they should have traded him"
Let's wait before you "hang" him and get all of the information.

Glad all these weird Vikings scandals have stopped
Anyway ... hopefully we'll have more information later.
I'll wait to hear the facts before I weigh in on my personal opinion of the matter.
From a team perspective it's really just all bad. It's negative attention to the guy they are trying to push to be a more vocal team leader. Not to mention the face of the franchise. It's rough.

We just need to hold on until all the evidence is gathered and we get more details. And we will. I'm 55 and those of you of my generation know that this was/is a fairly common form of punishment for many kids. I don't actually remember my Mom taking a switch to me, but she sure threatened it a lot; and I did get a belt. I'm guessing this was a fairly common form of punishment for young Adrian Peterson as well.
That being said, the severity of the injuries is the key thing here. If the kid just has some red welts with no skin broken, how many of us haven't had that?? The Mom could have just overreacted or been angry with Adrian for some other reason. We don't know. If blood was drawn or these are injuries that will leave scars, Adrian should be in big trouble. It does worry me that there seems to be enough evidence for the indictment, but let's wait for more. Maybe some red welts are enough for an indictment.
Child abuse is a horrible thing and anyone guilty of it is the lowest of the low. But this may end up being a long long way from actual abuse when all is said and done.
And until we have more info, don't compare this to the Ray Rice deal. If Adrian just disciplined his son in the same manner he was disciplined as a youth and didn't really injure him, that's quite different than cold-cocking a woman with a left to the jaw.

^Look at the pictures in above link. Doesn't look too severe to me, but I could be wrong.

From that article -
When investigators questioned Peterson, they say he told them he regarded it as a normal spanking and not excessive. A grand jury seated earlier this summer decided not to charge him, but now a second new grand jury has indicted Peterson
so what changed between attempt 1 and attempt 2? was attempt 1 from people who grew up when spankings where ok and attempt 2 is the hover parent & everyone is a winner type?

If that image is real and are marks on a 4 year old he crossed the line.

I definitely agree with this.
I don't wanti to get into pissing matches about the disciplining children stuff though, so I'll leave it at that.
I'll just say things are a lot different now than when I was 11 and that was only 2002.
I don't want to play the soft game but you were born in 1991? You guys are generally viewed as the people things alter for

I'm betting everyone got disciplined as a kid (except Nextquestion, he got lollipops). But AD using a switch? After his other kid just got killed by being abused? That's pretty harsh. This is just terrible, for so many reasons. But its interesting that he was already cleared by 1 grand jury. I didn't think you could get 2.

There is no reason in the world to punish a 4 year old like that.
He should be suspended by the Vikings until he clears it up. Just like Cook was.

The DA can go back as often as he wants to a grand jury. What he did is after the first one, they probably got a new grand jury and he presented to the new people. Happens all the time. I know when I served on the grand jury it was for 8 months. And the next one sat for 6, and then 8. That's how they do it in my county.

It's time for the off-the-field violence on the part of NFL football players to end. Those who say that a certain kind of conduct was OK 50 years ago are making an irrelevant point. Slavery was legal 200 years ago. Is that an excuse for someone perpetrating acts that according to contemporary standards constitute domestic abuse? No. Full stop.
As for the Peterson incident, I don't know all the facts, so I won't render judgment. But I certainly hope the league investigates and the prosecutors do their thing, and I want no special treatment given to any football player, no matter what team he plays for. I'm sick of all these police reports coming out of this league. It has to stop -- these guys are getting paid plenty of money from the American people to play a violent sport, and for that privilege, they have a responsibility to fully comply with all of our laws against violence.
