Yep. And I would be shocked if ANY team gives up ANYthing for him.Demi wrote:He has no value. Especially to us. Cut the guy the minute no other team shows interest...
Oh really, now you get served crow when you've been right all along? Yeah, that's not how it works. Crow could only be served if Frazier and/or Ponder worked out. I don't see too many people being pessimistic about the Zimmer hire.frosted21 wrote:That said, when they do right the ship, there will be multiple plates of crow served to the pessimists that inhabit our 'fanbase'.
And by "optimist" do you actually mean delusional? Because yeah, anyone who was going, "yay, I hope we extend Frazier and keep starting Ponder because all this sucking is great". That's not optimism, that's just plain nuts, and those fans should already be eating crow. And what do you have against crows anyway? You sure do want to serve em up in a bad way.frosted21 wrote:And with THAT said, if the ship continues to sink, optimists such as myself will rightfully be served dish after dish of that same variety of crow.![]()
Kindly show me an example of any support for Ponder and/or Frazier that I made in that post or anywhere for that matter. I will gladly take my medicine if you can produce such a thing. You apparently are struggling with understanding my previous post, that's okay. I will slow it down for you. Neither Frazier nor Ponder have anything to do with my optimism. I would be a fool to have been optimistic about those two. I am optimistic about the current direction of this team. We are no longer coached by Leslie Frazier and Ponder is out of the picture. Hence, my optimism. As far as the pessimistic fans, I was not speaking to those who were pessimistic about Frazier and/or Ponder. I am speaking to those who are down on the current direction of the team - the future of the current group of decision makers. I have no idea if you are one of those 'fans' or not. Nothing in my post referred to Frazier or Ponder - I'm wondering where you got that from?Reignman wrote:I can see the headline now, "GM checked into substance abuse program soon after trading for Ponder" because he'd have to be f'ing high.

Anybody who would spend so much as a 7th rounder on that guy would be a fool.Jeffbleedspurple wrote:The Minnesota Vikings have apparently had enough of quarterback Christian Ponder and will reportedly see what they can get for him via a trade, according to ESPN.com (via CBS Sports).
Ponder is under contract for 2014, but "it seems likely the Vikings would try to get what they can for him in a trade."
Ponder played nine games last season, throwing 11 touchdowns and turned the ball over 13 times, paving the way for Matt Cassel to take his place.

Would be nice if we could get at least a 3rd round pick out of him
I've stated this previously but it's worth repeating here. Ponder is the "poster boy" for the failures of this team over the last couple of years.King James wrote:With Cassel leaving and Freeman possibly testing the FA as well, I don't think the Vikings will be looking to get rid of Ponder anymore.
STOP saying he's fine as a backup! Drives me nuts that PA keeps saying this.80 PurplePride 84 wrote:I don't think Ponder will be on the team this year. He's fine as a backup, much like T-Jack, but a change of scenery is best for all involved, just like T-Jack.
I think if Cassel of Freeman is re-upped Ponder is cut/traded in March. If we lose both I think he might hang around until after the draft. But no way do I see him on the roster come Week 1.
Why such an extreme position on this? I get that you don't like Ponder but It's not like you haven't seen that he can make plays and help the team win at times. He's done it and if called upon to do it as a backup, there's no reason to believe he couldn't do it again. There's also no reason to believe he wouldn't come off the bench and stink, since he's plenty of that too.majorm wrote:STOP saying he's fine as a backup! Drives me nuts that PA keeps saying this.
If you're okay with him as the backup, that means you're okay with him as the starter. In the league today, it's becoming more rule than exception that the backup makes a few starts at some point during the season. What if they keep Ponder as the "backup" and the starter - whoever that is - gets a concussion and misses a few weeks. Then we're faced with Ponder starting again. He HAS TO GO!!!
Yeah, don't forget the GB game! Give him another 30 starts!Worst case he has to come in a few games if the starter goes down and for as bad as Ponder is lets not act like he's never had a good game in his career.
Which is being fueled by ex-Ponder apologists that still won't just give up on the guy.I can't believe there is this much debate of whether the guy should be allowed to hold a clipboard and run a scout team.
Ponder: .400As bad as Ponder is he is at least as good as most of them and better than unemployed scrubs like Rosenfels, Vince Young and Tebow that people love to bring up so often.
