That sums up Webb's game in a word and it's word I heard associated h with him often when he was with the Bears. The Vikings need to find someone better than Webb to be their top backup tackle.
Regarding today's entry: it's rare for this board to come close to 100% agreement about anything but I suspect we could come close when it comes to the need to replace Johnson and upgrade the left guard spot. Goessling said the Vikes might use a mid-round pick on a guard and that wouldn't surprise me at all. However, depending on the talent available, I wouldn't mind if they used a relatively high pick on the position. Good blocking is crucial, especially for a team that has a premier running back and issues at QB.
I would love it if they were able to get a solid starting guard in the middle of the draft. I do think our offensive line is very good, other than Johnson.

I still find Loadholt's tendency to let pass rushers blow by him at some very inopportune moments maddening but overall, he's not a bad player. If Kalil can bounce back from his sophomore slump and if they can upgrade the guard position next to him, the line could be quite good.

They're not gonna get the top ranked qb! People they're the 8th pick

On another note, Fusco has been a great surprise. I was a little upset that we let Geoff Schwartz go last year, but wouldn't have probably seen Brandon on the field a much if we hadn't. Thought, it would have been nice to keep Schwartz and see if he could swing over to left guard.
A fine draft pick by Ricky, by the way. He was taken in the 6th round in 2011. Nice to see. We have drafted all but Charlie Johnson on our offensive line.

Draft priority: High. The Vikings need an impact player at the position, no matter whether they think they have a solution at middle linebacker in Cole. Buffalo's Khalil Mack has been linked to the Vikings in a handful of early mock drafts, and he could make sense at No. 8. But with Greenway possibly entering the twilight of his Pro Bowl career, and new coach Mike Zimmer instilling a new defensive scheme, it's important for the Vikings to get some things settled at linebacker.
Did Goessling MEAN to contrast his last sentence with the previous one (as "But" implies)? He seems to be a bit of a sloppy writer. I think he likely intended to write something to the effect of, "I don't know whether the Mack scenario will come to fruition, but whatever they do they need to address this position given Greenway's decline and Zimmer's arrival (D guru that won't tolerate piss-poor LB play).
Moving beyond that gripe… I would love for us to seriously upgrade our talent at LB and I think if we have a shot at Barr or Mack at 8 we should take it. Alternatively, trading back and picking up CJ Mosely is also appealing. Alternatively, if we could pick up Van Noy in the 2nd round I'd be pleased as pie.

I agree about taking a LB at #8. I believe that Barr or more likely Mack will be there.
Like yourself, I would like to see the Vikings get Mosely as well.
It's not that the Vikings don't need a QB, because they certainly do, but I think the LB need is just as great.

Green Bay didn't get a top pick when they picked Rodgers. A lot can happen between now and the draft. You just never know.

I prefer both MacK and Mosely to Barr. Doubt we try for either as we literally need a NT more then any other player on the D, with the possible exception of a CB. Taking Nix is as important as taking Kalil was 2 years ago.

Free Agency is going to be interesting this year...
I kind of wonder what happens to Cook. By all indications he deserves to get the axe, but I wonder if Zimmer sees something he can coach. The guy has the physical tools, but he never puts it all together. I think most likely he is gone, but who knows.

You can't teach instincts or awareness. It will be interesting if he's brought back on a reasonable one-year contract.
