1975 team was was a complete team, I wanted to beat up everyone in Jr.High that wore Cowboys gear after that game.

Haha. Their helmets had a lot to do with me becoming a fan too. That's the kind of thing that impresses a ten year-old. I still think they are awesome! I sure hope they never change them. I know they've tweaked the horns a bit over the years - including giving them the current look a few years ago - but it's still the same basic design they started with in 1961.80 PurplePride 84 wrote:98.
I liked the Vikings before then because I thought they had cool helmets but that team and that season sealed my fate as a fan. (unfortunately.)

In my early adult life, I was VERY emotionally invested in the Vikings. 1998 was a special year...I label it my favorite team for a different reason than most, however. It was the team that taught me perspective. I was SO depressed after the NFCC game, I missed two days of work. I vowed never to take sports that seriously again. That 1998 team allows me to, now, enjoy watching my team without letting the season define my mood. I can handle seeing a heartbreaking loss without adversely affecting my life. And I can STILL get excited and cheer for the positives.
My son was crying uncontrollably last year when Peterson came up short to break the season rushing record. He still needs some perspective.
Vikings honoring All-MOA Field team: At halftime on Sunday, the Vikings will recognize the 28-man All-Mall of America Field team, as voted on by fans throughout the season. The team is heavy on players from coach Dennis Green's teams in the 1990s -- Green is the coach of the team, and 16 of the 27 players on the team played at least one season for him. The Vikings said 20 of the 28 members of the team are expected to be at the game on Sunday. We're particularly interested to see if Randy Moss shows up (which we doubt), or if the Vikings invited back Antoine Winfield after they cut the cornerback in the spring, leading to a bit of a rift between the three-time Pro Bowler and the team. And if Green is there? That's always got the potential to be interesting.

I just bought a signed ball: Minnesota Vikings 74-75 Super Bowl team.
It has A LOT of the names that you guys go on and on and on about.![]()
Just...just a little present to myself. It's way before my time, but I know it's history! I'll be proud to have it.
Do you remember the Saints took a 10 point lead, and the Vikings went 44 unanswered.VikingPaul73 wrote:I was too young for the '70s team, although I'm sure they were exciting and some of the highlights I've seen of Alan Page are ridiculous.
Loved the '98 team of course, but my favorite has the be the '87 team. What a great defense and what an exciting run in the playoffs. The win against the Saints was incredible and the win against the 49ers is probably my favorite Vikings game of all time. The loss in the NFCC was devastating
Browner, Doleman, Millard, Hardware Hank, Studwell, Lee, Holt...what a Defense.....and AC is still my favorite Viking of all time.
And yet you took time to reply.chicagopurple wrote:I am so tired of threads like this. I have been watching the Vikes for over 40 yrs. YES, I loved Tark, Browner, etc, BUT living in the past is the habit of chronic losers. Its like the Soviets endlessly spewing out movies and parades of their "Great Heroes of WWII". If it has been that long since you were great that all you have is distant memories, its pretty pitiful. WE are reaching that point.
Rough crowd. Some of us are about making the most of the present, but that's not entirely accepted, either. Darn the luck!chicagopurple wrote:I am so tired of threads like this. Two things: I don't ride horses, and I answered the question days ago, Sally.
I know right? Hey Melanie got off your Vikings high horse and answer the darn question!I think the OP mean's favorite season, is that acceptable to answer without having to make Sophie's Choice?
Who's living in the past? I certainly could have picked this year's team for the favorite of all time, but I think they fall just a little short of the '75 team. The question wasn't "would you like to go back there"? By that logic, Raven fans shouldn't ever discuss whether the 2000 or 2012 team was better.chicagopurple wrote:I am so tired of threads like this. I have been watching the Vikes for over 40 yrs.
