If Patterson from Tennessee or Keenan Allen / California, was still around, maybe they wold be willing to take them iin the first.

Looks like Cordarrelle Patterson should be well off the board by the time the Vikings pick. Various mock drafts have him going to Buffalo (#8), New York (#9), Miami (#12) or Pittsburgh (#17), as well as a couple of other teams in between.

Keenan Allen is a definite possibility, but at #23 there will probably be some surprising talent remaining on the board at positions like linebacker, defensive tackle and cornerback, as well as some very good offensive linemen. The Vikings will have a tough decision to make and may let WR go until the second or even third round.

Man...Watching the combine this morning really reinforces just how amazing this class of WR's is. Wilson, Ace Sanders, Swope, and this Connor kid from Duke all helped themselves out today and looked real good.

I'm not a big fan at all of Marquess Wilson from Washington State, but the kid as talent. That's for sure. He looked real smooth in the drills today. Ace looks like another dynamic playmaker type ala Percy/Cordarelle/Tavon. Swope was an extremely reliable guy at A&M and him posting a 4.3 in the 40 today makes his stock go even higher. Connor showed some great natural hand catching and according to Mayock, has a very high football IQ.

I'm going around in circles trying to determine a route the Vikings should have with these guys. I want them to get at least 2 WR in this draft, but I wouldn't hate them drafting 3.

second round pick i hope
We've been having a discussion on WR over in the college/NFL draft board forum. A couple of us like Bryce as well, but 2nd seems high to me. I haven't seen where he's projected, but his speed today (4.38) will likely help him out. I'd love him a bit later if possible. I firmly believe he would have had a huge year if Casey Pachall (TCU QB) hadn't messed up the Horned Frogs' season w/ his substance abuse issues. Even w/ a freshman QB Boyce did pretty well. He was also solid with Dalton at the helm.

He wasn't playing well at all before he left the team...I'd stay away from him even though he looked pretty good today, but that doesn't mean a whole lot.

I agree. This seems to be the deepest WR class in recent memory. That really bodes well for the Vikings since it's one of their biggest needs. It also allows them to go BPA at the #23 pick even if it isn't a WR. Unfortunately, the Vikings 2nd biggest need, a 4-3 LB isn't very deep or very talented in this year's draft. It's filled with the hybrid pass rushing OLB, but not a lot of true 4-3 LB's. Ogletree has significant concerns about his character, Teo has concerns, and Minter seems to be your average run stopping MLB.

How about this? Notre Dame's Tyler Eifert in the first round. The Vikings can't hope to fill all of their WR needs. They split Rudolph out wide with some success this past season, and Eifert could be even more effective in that role.
The first thing you need to know about Tyler Eifert is that he is a wide receiver and not a tight end.

Three pass catching TEs from Notre Dame - how crazy would that be?

The reason i want the big man in the middle from Ohio state is he is awesome against the run .. We would have a run defense similar to when big Pat Willams was with us.
teams will have a hard time with his strength and size. If he gets a huge push they won't be able to chip Jarad Allen and Brain Robison nearly as much..Look at the Giants D line
from 2007 .. teams couldn't handle it at all. I think the Vikings could have the same with Jonathan Hankins
Hankins is a massive tackle who takes up a lot of space and blockers
at the point of attack. He was a key cog in Ohio State's defense and played a huge role in the Buckeyes enjoying an undefeated season in 2012. After playing in his final game,
Hankins quickly announced that he would skip his senior season to enter the 2013 NFL Draft.

I know we need wide outs badly.. but a D line with Hankins DT Willams DT Allen DE and Robison DE with Everson Griffen coming in to pass rush ... SKOL

I think Speilman has a man crush on Ogletree though...

Eifert as a WR is an interesting thought. Personally, I'm hoping Spielman either goes DT or OG at #23 and then WR with the 2nd, and I don't think Eifert will make it that far into the 2nd, but it's an intriguing idea.
