Another evaluation stating that Manziel's pocket presence is horrible. Please, don't put Vikings fans through another QB like that.

Here is an article breaking down Bridgewater, Bortles, and Manziel.

Good analysis. Makes me wonder if any of them are actually worth the 8th pick. It makes me want Mettenberger, Murray, or even McCarron that much more just based on the fact we can wait until the 2nd-3rd round for them.

Manziel never had good pocket presence. Outside of the pocket he is a beast but I don't like his chances when he contained. He can still make plays in the pocket when contained but he's not consistent.

yeah a qb that barely anyone has even heard of will be the future of the franchise, good luck with that prediction.

Good luck to...? Did anyone even make that prediction?

I just found that. I thought it was a very good article. Obviously, just one man's opinion. Reading that made me think Bridgewater is the guy we want, although if Bortles dropped to us, he may succeed because we won't have to start him right away.

This year's "top 3" of QBs has provoked such a variety of takes that it's really hard to make heads or tails of how things will actually go down on draft day. BTW, why in the world is it May this year? This has been a long offseason.

I have a feeling we'll have a shot at Bridgewater. I don't know what I think of him--whether he's worthy of 8, fits well w/ Norv and Zimmer, is the future franchise QB for the Vikings, etc.--but he seems the most likely of the three to at least have a productive, if not spectacular, NFL career.

Just another step closer to 12 months of 24 hours a day of NFL football and more $$$. It's been rumored for a while that Goodell wants to spread out the league calendar more and permanently move the draft to May.

So people really feel that Zimmer and Norv would want someone like JFB, would likes to run around so much, as our QB of the future? He doesn't seem to fit in with either of their schemes. Rickie, I don't think, has a clue when it comes to QB's, but I am more interested in what Norv wants, to go along with AD.

I sure hope that if he is there, they pull the trigger on JFB

I for one cannot seeing the Vikes drafting JFB even if he's available. Like you said, he doesn't fit Norv Turner's system.

Minnesota Vikings:
4/5: "More sources have confirmed my report, verifying the [Vikings are] high on Mettenberger who they believe is a perfect fit for Norv Turner’s system." - Tony Pauline, DraftInsider.net

Put simply, Mettenberger is the whole package; he has everything pro scouts want to see in a young signal-caller entering the NFL Draft. Mettenberger has great size at 6-foot-5, a strong arm, unrivaled accuracy, terrific poise in the pocket, natural ability to read defenses before and after the snap, quick release and good release point, solid footwork and a clutch gene with a hint of tenacity that allows him to fit balls into spaces where he probably shouldn’t without being reckless. If you’re a stats whiz, the kid threw for 3,082 yards, 22 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 65 percent of his passes in 12 games this year.
Found a flaw yet? Didn’t think so.
Seriously, watching film on Mettenberger blew me away. I’ve watched several LSU games this year, including Mettenberger’s gem against Georgia in late September, but the film breakdown on his 2013 season should make NFL scouts drool. That leads us to the 2014 NFL Draft.
There are eight teams that will undoubtedly select a quarterback in May to be the faces of their franchises. Add in the fact that teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers could also decide to take a signal-caller, and all 10 of the NFL-caliber quarterbacks expected to enter this year’s draft (minus Marcus Mariota) will be taken. The question now is: Where will Mettenberger end up with a torn ACL?

I think Mettenberger will be the steal of the draft. I hope this rumor is true, and vikings draft this kid in late first or second rd.

Damn... Mettenberger moving up the board with a BULLET! How's this kid going to get past the Texans, let alone fall all the way to #8? Sounds like he'd be worth the Vikings trading their 1st and 2nd round picks (and even their 3rd) to move up to #2 or #3 and nab this guy if the Texans decide to go a different route (slim as that chance may be).

Thanks for the info. I don't know who Pauline's sources are but it wouldn't surprise me if the Vikes were interested in Mettenberger. He's a big, strong-armed QB who might fit into Turner's offense well. I suspect the Vikes are "high" on several QBs in this draft.

"A clutch gene with a hint of tenacity"?! Good lord these writers just try way too hard!

I do like Mettenberger though.
