In any case the lions are dumbasses anyway. How do you not put Megatron on the field on a Hail Mary play?

His thumb pushing the facemask left constitutes a pull, he didn't hook it much but it still is a pull.S197 wrote: Wait a day or so and see what people say. Like I said, in real time I totally understand the flag, it looked like a facemask to me. But the benefit of replay shows it was the wrong call.

It WAS the right call, there wasn't much of a hook but his thumb pulled the facemask to the left, a pull is a pull.
You don't have defend this call just because you're a packers fan. The facemask was never "pulled", it was brushed for half a millisecond. His head turns to the left because he has a hand swiping at it from the right.

Re: Lions-Packers TNF
In situations where the evidence in the picture is clear that Rodgers wasn't pulled down by the facemask? No finger was ever inside the mask and "hooked" as you keep saying, either. It's fine to be a homer, man. I'm a homer for the Vikes all year long. I like to think I'm unbiased but I'm sure my Packer friends would say otherwise. It was a bad call followed by a great hail mary.Jordysghost wrote: I think in situations like this a full replay is nessecary.

It wasn't much of a hook you are right, but his thumb got inside the facemask and pushed it right, that is going to be called.TSonn wrote: In situations where the evidence in the picture is clear that Rodgers wasn't pulled down by the facemask? Oh and no, thats not why I take issue with that picture, the problem is thats a photo of after the penalty occured.
In any event I thought the no call on Abbredaris was crap and would be game altering.

PFT is a very popular media source. Whether you agree with their opinions is not important, yous said there was no one other than this board questioning the call, I pointed out that simply isn't true. I can post the inevitable videos and articles that will question this call as soon are they posted if you'd like. I won't though because I know that you know this call will be questioned, whether you think it's the right call or not, this is going to cause a stir.

Its not exactly stirring things up as it is, In any even the NFL just came out and said it was the right call, I guess me, dean blandino and the rulebook all see eye to eye, when your finger, or in his case thumb causes a turn of the facemask it gets called according to the rulebook. Now that no call on Abbredaris..saint33 wrote:

That facemask call is exactly what's not supposed to be called anymore. From http://www.nflpenalties.com:
"Incidental contact made with the facemask of an opponent. This penalty is no longer called. The foul is either flagrant enough to be a 15 yard variety, or it is not called at all."

Comon man, whats next? Bleacher report?
When did Blandino call it the right call? Again, his words were "At full speed an official is going to make that call almost every time". That is far different than saying "it was the right call".

straight from the rule book
“No player shall grasp and control, twist, turn, push, or pull the facemask of an opponent in any direction,” Rule 12, Section 2, Article 14 states.
The rule comes with an important caveat: “If a player grasps an opponent’s facemask, he must immediately release it. If he does not immediately release it and controls his opponent, it is a foul.”

I'd agree, had his thumb not caused the turn of the facemask.TSonn wrote:That facemask call is exactly what's not supposed to be called anymore. From http://www.nflpenalties.com:

Re: Lions-Packers TNF
I supposed I could take a screen shot of the hand bumping the facemask incidentally? But again, that's not supposed to be a foul anymore either. It's clear that the ref thought Rodgers was thrown down by the facemask which did not happen.Jordysghost wrote: It wasn't much of a hook you are right, but his thumb got inside the facemask and pushed it right, that is going to be called.

Abbredaris no call was a good one. I'm obviously biased but the media consensus on that play was a good no call.
