I agree with the above post as well Jim. It keeps the board from getting so cluttered

I agree good depth and some insurance against Kalil falling apart.

I don't get the sense that he's imagining his role as a backup. We'll see what the market values him at, but I'd be fine with him in that role and taking that kind of a salary.
I mean he was pretty horrible last year and only lasted in Tennessee 1 year out of the 4 on his contract. I think he might be starting to realize he's not a starting caliber tackle anymore. I could be wrong though. Maybe an awful franchise like Oakland will over pay him and make him their future LT

i see no value in signing oher. when two teams give up on you in back to back years i think that's a bad sign. bottom line is he just was never that good to begin with. no need to pay that much for a backup tackle.

I agree. This is what I hate about the offseason. Anyone who someone has heard of gets a "let's sign him" thread. Like you said, there is a reason Oher was let go two years in a row. RED FLAG ALERT.

Hey, if Michael Oher could come cheap he would be a great signing. I mean, let's be honest, what other tackle not the free agent market is under 30 and would be a boost to our tackle depth? I for one cannot stomach another season of Mike Harris as the swing tackle.

you are assuming oher would be better than harris. if oher had value then why did a team like the titans dump him the first chance they could? it's not like they have the best o line situation etiher.

My guess is that the main reason is that his contract was inflated compared to his performance. Perhaps they also know something about his injury.

I doubt you're wrong. Judging by your mock draft thread, you're up on this stuff, certainly more than I have the time to be.

I did see you "catch on" about Cooper and TB playing HS ball together well after that had become common knowledge among posters here, but I'll chalk that up to you devoting your attention to scouting reports elsewhere. :D

Whether they were to sign Oher or not, I hope they draft OL at least by round 3 this year.

Isn't this Harris's first season with the Vikings? He barely played. And when he did, I don't recall him playing that poorly.

harris is what he is. a nice backup who can play both tackle spots in a pinch. plus he knows turner's system dating back to his time in san diego. perfect backup if you ask me. he's cheap, knows his role, and isn't a train wreck. i understand the line struggled last year, but we are going to be getting back two players who pff rated very high for their positions in 2013 and 2012. i realize pff isn't the gospel fusco and loadholt are pretty good and it will definitely tighten up the line when they return. for me if we add a quality left guard and maybe a mid round tackle then i'm good.

I'm honestly surprised nobody has considered him as a possible LG replacement.

How could he be any worse? I don't know if we watched the same Mike Harris this season, but he was bad. I remember the first game he started against Carolina, Charles Johnson made him look just silly on a sack. Our running game really tapered off after we lost big Phil, a big reason why was because Harris was ineffective.

I am not satisfied in the least bit with the depth on our offensive line. In fact, the only two players they need remain on the roster are Yankey (actually in a starting consideration role too) and Berger as far as back ups are concerned. Antonio Richardson is intriguing, but who knows if he will recover well enough to be effective?

Bottom line - I want anyone who can give us quality depth on the offensive line. I am sick and tired of our depth being pathetic. I cannot even recall the last time we had quality back up offensive linemen. We saw how bad the offensive line was when we lost Fusco and Loadholt. Not to mention, how bad Johnson and Kalil played this year as well.

haha you just hadddd to bring it up  I truly believe they draft o-line between rounds 1-3 this year. Our offensive line isn't getting any younger and has a lot of money on it between Phil, Fusco and Sully. We need to get that young guy in here

If they think Scherf is worth #11, I'm good with that pick. Otherwise, I'd love for a top WR at 11 and Kouandjio or Josue Matias in the 2nd.
