That's pretty good. Personally I think Hill is a slightly better option as a backup QB than Cassel straight up. Diggs and Thompson are both guys I am excited about adding to the team too!Pondering Her Percy wrote: I believe you're right. So in turn, we get an explosive prospect in Diggs and a potential starting RG in Thompson. All for Matt Cassel. I'd take those two and Hill over Cassel any day of the week

And if he is dropped before the start of the season, they save 4.5 mil? Cassel better start eating his Wheaties! If they do get a QB that works, the Bills and Eagles should be interesting to watch.

That #137 pick was the first overall pick in the 5th round. At the time I thought that was adequate compensation for Cassel (in addition to swapping 6th and 7th rounders in 2016).Raptorman wrote: If I am right, they traded the pick(137) it to Atlanta for the 146 pick and picked Diggs and I think number 185 Tyrus Thompson.
The Falcons took Grady Jarrett with that pick. They wanted him pretty bad (he's probably going to see a lot of snaps this year in their sub packages at either NT or UT). According to the draft chart, fair value for moving from #146 to #137 would have been the #217 pick. Instead we got their 6th round pick at #185 (or 32 spots higher than fair value) which we used on Thompson.
I'm pretty confident Diggs is going to be a contributor for us; hopefully he can win the punt return job this year and eventually develop into a #3 WR. Not so sure about Thompson. While he was running the 1s at RG in minicamp I think that was more a reflection of how big our hole is at that position than it is about his talent level. Really won't know anything until training camp with pads and full contact. If Thompson can just make the roster and be a serviceable backup that will make this trade lopsided in our favor.
Nice thing about this trade is it sounds like we were targeting Pruitt in the 5th and he was still on the board at #143. I didn't get the sense that we were necessarily targeting Diggs; more likely he was BPA at #146.

Lol. It is June. Last month, it was E.J. Manuel who wasn't going to make the Bills' roster. Ridiculous. The media needs to at least let the men play a few preseason games before proclaiming who is making the roster and who isn't.
