Exactly. Assuming the coaches will be truly open-minded, I see it as a fluid situation.

Even if Patterson starts the season getting 20 snaps per game, if he's making the most of those snaps, his role could easily (and rapidly) grow. After all, he's a very talented player with game-breaking potential and it's not like he's buried behind a group of all-pros on the depth chart. If he proves himself more reliable, and if Norv makes wise use of his skills, I'd like to believe think Patterson's opportunities will steadily increase.

Supposedly, he still has an opportunity to earn a starting role going into the season so who knows, if he has a good camp and preseason, he might be seeing way more than 20 snaps per game even in September.

I'm cautiously optimistic that he can improve on some of the weak areas of his game and do some special things for us this year! Sounds like he's in better physical shape this year already and that is a great start.

This article is interesting. And it's by Aj Mansour from KFAN. Mansour has been critical of CP in the past.

I really want him to be great. Hopefully, he does "get it".

Not sure if it was in the Norv interview or not, but it sounds like Patterson walks off the field A.S.A.P.

and a lot of the other wide outs are putting in extra work after practice...

:nono:

If this is true... dump him.. keep a worker .. not a person who does very little, with such great ability.

I haven't seen or heard that, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been said. I'd be curious if you could find that source. I just know Wallace is one of the last to leave every day. By all accounts Patterson has shown improvement thus far.

Wow, some fans seem to be putting him in the same category as Troy Williamson. This kid has more pure talent than almost anyone on this team. He has made a whole lot of exciting and brilliant plays during his short 2 year career.
This year he will step up and have a great all-around year, returning kicks, catching the ball, and running with the ball. Watch and see

In the article above they talk about how he was walking off the field while many other receivers were still practicing.
Here I was, sitting on day two of Training Camp already convinced that it was time to write a scathing article about how embattled Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson just doesn’t “get it.” I had seen the lack of focus, I had heard the coaches yelling at him and I had witnessed the extra work that others were putting in as he walked off and headed towards the locker room. None of that is fabricated. Then today left me with a little glimmer of hope.

Ah. I incorrectly read that as something he did last season.

No, instead it was noted football expert Aj Mansour's impression after one day of training camp:

His admission that he was getting ready to write a scathing article about Patterson based on a day's worth of camp impressions pretty much tells me all I need to know.

Indeed. That's frustrating on several levels.

Also, I'm not a big fan of the term "others". That could mean anything from 2 other players to 90% of the team. It doesn't even indicate whether any WRs were included in those "others" (although we know Wallace is one of them from other sources).

Combine all of these factors with the fact that we have no clue what he is doing when reporters aren't watching and I think it is more than premature to write him off, especially when he's showing good things when he's on the field.

They're NOT dumping Patterson and he IS a worker. Try trusting what Zimmer is currently saying for a change.

Not to worry. The article by Aj Mansour ends up being a positive one about Patterson's improvement and work ethic.

It coincides with Zimmer's claim that Patterson is rounding a corner.
