Antonio Cromartie or his cousin, Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie would be great fits in this defense I think. It is too bad about Verner, but oh well, tis free agency.

Just wondering if this was media outlets saying this and a matter of public record or "inside sources" close to Verner (which would be surprising if someone here had contacts with him, quite frankly).

Darren Wolfson - ESPN, Ben Goessling - ESPN. and Chris Tomasson - St. Paul Pioneer Press all reported we made a call about him on Saturday determined there was no interest in coming to us and moved on.

Haha, I know I was only joking. 'Sources' makes it sound like the latter.

Chris Tommasson - "Vikings had called about cornerback Alterraun Verner, but he never gave them any serious consideration."

Darren Wolfson - "In spite of reaching out on Sat., Vikings never made a real run at Verner."

Ben Goessling - "Hadn't been much talk about Vikings and Verner today, after they showed interest on Saturday. Didn't seem like they were serious contenders."

It's all on twitter from their official accounts so take it for what its worth, but they are all trusted sources and all reporting the same thing so that leads me to believe there's some truth to it.

Tommasson's quote is the only one that makes it seem like he was turning the Vikings down. The other two seem to be a lack of interest by the Vikings. Perhaps he priced himself out of their consideration (though his contract was surprisingly fair at 4 year, $26 million).

If you Connect all the dots between these comments and the contract he took it becomes clear that he didn't price himself out of our range, so obviously Minnesota had interest when they called and something in those talks led them to not pursue him further. Clearly its not the money, and obviously the vikings liked him enough to call about him. So only logical solution is that we weren't in his running of top teams.

Regardless of that my main point was people need to stop #### over people we didn't get and realise there is probably reasons for it besides vikings front office didn't try hard enough or offer enough money. We should focus on the remaining free agents we still have a shot at and the players that we did get allready and be happy :v): SKOL!

The 49ers are showing interest in free agent CB Chris Cook.

On Tuesday, the Niners cut Carlos Rogers and allowed free agent Tarell Brown to hit the open market. That leaves Eric Wright, Tramaine Brock and Chris Culliver as their top-three corners. Cook fits the mold as a physical, press player that goes 6'2/212. The Niners have also been linked to Nolan Carroll.

Ooooo. I wanted him to stay to see what he looks like with new staff. I suppose I'll see that either way. Watch him leave and become good. A top five team is interested in him? He's lucky.

Once some coach informs that he's actually permitted to try putting his hands on the ball, the sky's the limit for him! ;)

DRC was a lock-down machine last year. I'm surprised he isn't being pursued harder...at least publicly.

This came out of nowhere. Maybe Zimmer and Spielman want younger depth at DT
Free agent DT Henry Melton will visit the Vikings on Thursday.
To date, Melton had only been linked to the Cowboys, but it appears Big D won't even be his first visit. With DT Kevin Williams expected to move on in free agency, Melton would slide right in along the Vikings' 4-3 line.
