Daniel Jones to Indy, as expected by many. We need to get a vet QB now. It's just JJM.
The Vikings really like Rypien and teams tend to go all in on 2nd year QBs, signing backups who are less than 0 as a threat to the starter.
I really like Rypien too. They should try to add another vet to compete for the backup QB spot, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Rypien won that outright.
Of the FA signings announced thus far, the biggest adds in my opinion are Murphy, Allen and Fries.
I've also re-thought my position on the Jones signing. The contract is a little expensive for a RB of Jones' age and injury history, but having a guy like Jones in the backfield with McCarthy is only going to help McCarthy. The value of an experienced RB who understands blocking schemes and can get out as a reliable valve receiver can't be understated when you have a young QB. He will be a stabilizing presence.
Pretty excited about the offense heading into next season at this point. The OL looks to be much improved (assuming Darrisaw comes back healthy), the receiver group (including TEs) is loaded, and RB looks capable of steady productivity. If McCarthy turns out to be the real deal, they could be one of the better overall offenses in the league.

It's kind of crazy how our QB room went from probably the deepest to one without a capable backup. I would guess we kick the tires on Winston or Jacoby Brissett.
IIRC we kicked the tires on Brissett during the QB disaster season two years ago.

Got awarded a 3rd rounder. That helps a bit:

Harrison Smith will remain with the Minnesota Vikings for a 14th season, with the sides agreeing to a revised contract for 2025.
A source told ESPN that the one-year deal will pay Smith approximately $10 million this upcoming season.

It would be great if they could find a way to move down and acquire more picks. This has been a fantastic off-season so far.

Have a feeling that Kwesi trades at least one of those picks

And while I'm at it, DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN please don't let Aaron Rodgers near the team. I'm fine with giving JJ they keys to the offense

The Vikings have traded Ed Ingram to the Texans.
Minnesota is sending the guard to Houston in exchange for a sixth-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, the team announced Thursday.
I'm surprised they got anything.

I’m pleasantly surprised.
Makes you wonder about Garrett Bradbury, who’s been widely reported as a player who will be cut if the Vikings can’t find a trade partner. So far, no one’s biting on a trade. Weird that someone would trade for Ingram but not Bradbury, whose contract only calls for about $1.5 million more than Ingram’s. Is it possible that NFL GMs actually value the walking turnstile Ingram more than Bradbury?
On another note, how phenomenal was the Vikings’ season last year when you consider the fact that those two comprised 40% of our offensive line for the first eight games?

Probably because Ingram wasn't a cut candidate like Bradbury he was worth something. Once the Kelly signing happened every team knows Bradbury is toast.

I was surprised too. Maybe the difference is that Bradbury is older and been in the league longer. Maybe because Ingram has only been in the league 3 years they think he can be salvaged whereas Bradbury is what he is after 6 years.

Is anyone else concerned about Kelly's injury history? Obviously, he's an upgrade over Bradbury in terms of talent when healthy, but he's on the older side and he's had some trouble staying on the field the last few seasons.
Maybe the Vikings will hang on to Bradbury? If they were to trade him, who is going to back up the center position?

I'm concerned with most of our lineman's injury history. We need to continue building quality depth throughout the rest of the off-season.

Someone talk me off the ledge. The longer that Rodgers remains unsigned or the Vikes come out and say they aren’t signing him I’m getting increasingly worried. I thought this was just BS, started by Erin’s camp, but when Kevin Siefert reported they are considering it I started worrying. After all of the good moves this free agency period it suck for them to flush it by signing that ####. I can’t believe this regime would do it, but things are going too well for Vikings fans this offseason. Meanwhile, the available backup qbs are dwindling.
