Dude, New England is starting a tight end at right tackle because of all the injuries, and they're still undefeated. I don't care what PFF or whoever says. That's not a good unit. Brady's decision making, as well as his release, covers up the line's deficiencies. Rodgers never had it that bad.
You really need to back off the woe-is-Erin kick. As long as the refs keep protecting him like he wears a freaking skirt, you'll get little sympathy around here. That call against Linval Joseph the other day was so lame that Rodgers himself laughed at it.
I go on NFL stats, not PFF.
Even if that is the case as of right now, Brady has had top 15 O lines nearly his entire career, Rodgers has had bottom 10 O lines his entire career, Rodgers most definitely had it this bad, for most of his career I might add.
I absolutely would bet you that ths years Patriots O line wont give up as many sacks as the Packers 2008. 2009. or 2011 O lines. Going off NFL statistics is not feeling bad for Aaron.
I thought the Joseph call was iffy, but I have seen those called and not called plenty, It really comes down to the officiating crew, whoever called the Miami, Buffalo games last year allowed Rodgers to take helmet to helmet hits more then a few times, so my sympathy is running low when it comes to that claim.

That about sums it up for me as well, couldn't agree more, especially with the underlined. If anything Teddy might actually be over performing what should be possible behind a line this bad.
I'm at this point as well, since the Denver game actually.
Frankly, I'm surprised he hasn't missed a start yet.

For all the talk about Brady's awful, decimated line consider this: Brady was the second-most pressured quarterback this week on 52.5% of his dropbacks. That was 10% less than Teddy on Sunday.

The bottom line is that it doesn't matter how our team scores points, but it is pretty clear that this teams needs to score more, and that our defensive play can only go so far. 3 ways to score more points - improving our play on special teams, improving the passing game, or improving the running game.
As far as special teams is concerned, Walsh needs to step it up but overall I think our return team is doing very well, couldn't ask much more out of them.
Our running game also seems to be doing very well, I don't think anyone would say our running game is sub par.
That only leaves one thing - the passing game. It needs improvement, whether that needs to come from better O-Line play or a better Teddy is up for debate, but I think it's clear that our passing game is the weakest point scoring tool this team has.

Does anybody here know how whoever is measuring pressure makes that determination? Over the years I've seen stats and percentages but I have no idea how they're determined. If a pass protector gets beat but the QB gets the ball away quickly, before the rusher can really interfere with the play, is he considered pressured? Does he have to specifically react to the pressure with movement of some kind for it to be considered pressure?
I've always been clear on the benefits of pressuring the QB but I've never been clear on what the criteria are for statistically measuring pressure( assuming there's an official standard at all).

I tend to rank an Offensive line on the whole shebang, sacks, pressures etc. And the Patriots O line doesn't give up many of either, which explains why they are consistently a top unit in the league.
Brady has a damn fine release, I agree a hundred percent, but if you put Brady on the Vikings do you think the O line would be a top unit in the NFL? I don't, there is only so much a quick release can make up for.
I bet if you put Brady on the current Vikings team it would make a world of a difference. They have the NFL's leading rusher in AP and now you add Brady's ability to make a lot of plays in the passing game it is going make the OL look a whole lot better.

I agree but I don't think it makes you guys a top 10 unit. If you put Bridgewater on the O lines that the Patriots had throughout the 2000s I don't think it is enough to make them fall out of the top 10 either, surely not top 12-15

if you put brady on the current vikings team it would make a world of difference?? how about these qb's as well: brees, rodgers, big ben, stafford, cutler, newton, romo, palmer, daulton, ryan; even an injured manning, and his brother eli. are you joking? we have a horrible starting qb right now it is high time you people wake up. there are 3 better qb's in our division alone.

I think you uh.. missed the point a little bit.

Outside of the Aikman era cowboys, Norv Turner coached offenses/teams haven't done squat except come up short in big situations.
-
I can still name 4 of the 5 starters from that cowboys O-line just off the top of my head....Stepnofski, Tuenei, Lett, Newton...there's a reason for that and it's not because I'm a cowboy fan.
-
I'm not convinced the Vikings are overachieving thus far. I know the injuries to Phil and Sully have taken a significant toll...regardless, adjustments need to be made all the time, over the course of a season, from game to game and within games.
I don't think relying more on AD to move the ball is a wise 'adjustment'. It's wholly uncreative and not sustainable.
I think Peterson's recent comments reflect the large issue....the problem is systemic. It's basically the same issue as Leslie Fraizer's defense IMO.
-
This team is more than one draft away from Stepnofski, Newton, Lett and Tuenei...

To be fair, while they did come up short plenty in crucial situation, Norv Turner had a pretty good run there with San Diego.

Just curious - where do you find the stats for qb pressure/hurries? All I can find are sacks stats.

@Jordy
I don't think I've ever heard a single Charger fan lamenting the fact he was fired.
I've given the guy the benefit of the doubt throughout. I wanted Carr, Norv pounded the table demanding Bridgewater. I certainly don't think he's on another level when it comes to the coordinators he's facing week in and out. He's had an absurd amount of hall of fame caliber players to coach, AD being another. I can't give him too much credit for their success in the league.
I don't consider him inept or without imagination, by any means, I'm just not a fan and consider him part of the problem for this offense at this point.

Chargers fans not lamenting his firing probably stems more from their gripes with him as HC then his effectiveness running their offenses in a vacume, but I understand your point of view.
I dont, however think it is fair to detract from his resume on account of HOFers, I mean, he was those HOFers OC/HC and directly played a hand in their development.
