Vikings signing Will Fries and Javon Hargrave.Cliff wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 8:26 am Signings so far:
Byron Murphy Jr., CB
Isaiah Rodgers, CB
Theo Jackson, S
Bubba Bolden, S (depth signing)
Jonathan Allen, DT
Aaron Jones, RB
Ryan Kelly, C
Ryan Wright, P
They've more or less spent their free agency cash at this point as far as the more highly paid players go. They definitely addressed their areas of need though.

Re: Offseason Thread
Made my list a bit too soon.
Vikings sign Will Fries to a five-year contract worth $88 million.

Re: Offseason Thread
Next I'd like to see a decent backup QB. JJM's injury has me pretty nervous about going into the season with no decent option behind him. Maybe they're waiting to see if Daniel Jones is able to get a starting job somewhere. If he can he will, if he'll be a backup regardless of team I think he'll be with the Vikings.
Re: Offseason Thread
Wooooo I know it's a lot of money. But wooooo we got some interior lineman that can play!
Agree re Daniel Jones and backup qb.

Re: Offseason Thread
Love the signings of Will Fries and Jonathan Allen. Directly addressed two huge areas of need.
Here’s an under-the-radar bonus … Ryan Kelly at center has already worked extensively with Fries in Indianapolis. The communication will be there from the jump.
As long as both are healthy, the Vikings have upgraded the iOL in a big way. Finally.

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.
Re: Offseason Thread
Daniel Jones to Indy, as expected by many. We need to get a vet QB now. It's just JJM.

Re: Offseason Thread
Yikes. Still a few qbs. Here is the list. I wonder about Russell Wilson. Past his peak for sure, but serviceable if there is an injury. Rodgers would only go where he starts, and probably Cousins wouldn't want to make a return trip to MN as a backup. I'm not a fan of Winston, maybe in a pinch for a few games, I suppose that's (hopefully) all a backup would be needed for.

Hopefully KOC and company aren't part of that "no threat" club. I'm hoping after the 2023 season where they lost so many QBs to injury, plus JJM's injury history, they won't be that foolish.StumpHunter wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 11:45 amThe Vikings really like Rypien and teams tend to go all in on 2nd year QBs, signing backups who are less than 0 as a threat to the starter.
Re: Offseason Thread
That's fair, except that KOC has made a point to have a backup QB that has experience during his tenure here. It's hard for me to take the actions of pre-KOC and apply them to him. Rypien may be the path forward though, as he does have some minimal nfl playing time.StumpHunter wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 11:45 amThe Vikings really like Rypien and teams tend to go all in on 2nd year QBs, signing backups who are less than 0 as a threat to the starter.
I wonder if someone like Minshew makes sense. Not sure what he's going to get out there on the market though.

Re: Offseason Thread
It's kind of crazy how our QB room went from probably the deepest to one without a capable backup. I would guess we kick the tires on Winston or Jacoby Brissett.

Trey Lance is around too. I wonder if they'll have any interest in him.Husker Vike wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 12:14 pm It's kind of crazy how our QB room went from probably the deepest to one without a capable backup. I would guess we kick the tires on Winston or Jacoby Brissett.
Re: Offseason Thread
It's no wonder Jones didn't come back with the Vikings. I don't think the Vikings were willing to pay him what he got:
The Indianapolis Colts are expected to sign the former Giants and Vikings quarterback to a one-year, $14 million contract that's worth up to $17.7 million and includes $13.15 million guaranteed, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday.
